Absolutely great pix. I'm guessing they are in the river, not the lake ??

Yup. Very impressive take off. 9 souls and lots of gear and they were off in about 7-800 feet. 20mph North wind on the nose didn't hurt. Sure is quiet around here today. BTW the big boys will tell you its unatural to stop the prop on plane photo but just wanted to see what it took for a shutter speed to do that on a kerosene burner.

One more trip for the last 17 boxes out of 74 we mailed and we will be ready. Seems like you spend the entire summer getting ready for winter.

Wish the last of our "seasonal visitors" were gone for the year. Had over 16,500 of them yesterday! Busiest day of the year. A little over two weeks to go. Somehow, I'll make it.

Just doing what I want now.

Wow thats close to what the population used to be when I worked down there in the early 80's. I remember all you could hear downtown in the summer was the constant click of camera shutters.

I avoid downtown like the plague in summer. Of course the buses full of "visitors" seem to be everywhere. The worst for me is the whale watchers. There must be at least a dozen companies, most with several boats, some huge, carrying well over 100 passengers at a load. You can't get away from them. These boats zoom all over the local waters chasing the whales, and a guy can hardly hope to drop an anchor without getting knocked off with a wake.
I try to go farther, but just can't compete with twin 800 hp. jet drives, and tourists buying all the fuel.

Just doing what I want now.

You need 12 volts for the fuel injection system to pressurize itself before it cranks over, no 12 volt no fuel no use having a pull start.

Thats the thrower..you place the spear in the groove and notch it into the back, and have your hand around the other end with the hole..your index finger goes through the hole and hold the spear with your fingers and throw into a high arc and it comes down on top of the seals head and detaches the head..its not to kill it but just so you can follow the spear on the surface,as he drags it around when its underwater while you get close enough to harpoon it and then shoot.

the boys here are suprisingly accurate with them.

lol...yes it guess it is...

It can get real exiting with several boats after a seal and have the seal pop up near the boat and it starts raining spears frown

My son spent some time on the Yukon the last year or so and has said seal hunting is one of the most exciting things he has ever done. He was showing me his spear thrower last night
