What is your preferred fastening method for beaver and otter BG traps, chain, cable, or wire? Or a combination?Quick link, spring snap,or cable loop?

Partner and I lost a dozen 330's to Johnny sneakums using bright shinny clips. The easier to unhook the easier they walk off.

10 ft of 1/8” cable, swivel at the trap and another in the middle of the cable with a spring clip on the end.

Same as Claycreech. My second swivel is a barrel swivel about 18" from the trap. Attach cable to tree limb or whatever with quick snap. All my equipment is dipped so not shiny.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Wire-no kinks allowed.

My twenty 330s all have a six foot length of 1/8” cable attached…swiveled in the middle, with a loop on the end. There’s a quick link on the loop. If I’m in an area where theft might be a problem, I attach the cable with the quick link to a tree, using my leathermans tool to really snug it up. A lot of the thievery isn’t trappers, it’s dog walkers and hikers. They think they are doing the public a favor by stealing your trap. I have some extension cables made up if the six foot isn’t enough.

I also attach my Pa trap tag to the end of the cable loop. Pa law says you have to have a trap tag out of the water.

I use wire if it is a close anchor or add a cable extension if I reach a ways.
