I am working on the winchester model 60 from the barn I got some photos Any ideas how to remove the rust I did get the bolt out I think I will put it in vinegar There is also an object in the barrel that I have to remove I think it's a bug of sorts

get the wood off and find a tub you can get that into maybe a pvc pipe with and end cap you can stand that up in
you will have to see what the bore looks like after the rust is off
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

good luck keeps us posted, I got it all apart.... The object I think was what we call a mud-dobber I started cleaning out the barrel All the parts move as they should in my opinion From others with more expertise do you think it's safe to shoot? I think I am going with hippies suggestion

From others with more expertise do you think it's safe to shoot?
Do the old trick of setting it in an unmounted tire and pulling the trigger with a length of string if you're worried. There's places that have parts for those old Model 60s if you need something. I'd say IF there is going to be a problem it will be crud/rust in the barrel have eat up the rifling. Let's hope you're lucky.

… looking good clemke… I just got done steel woolin this winchester 30 down… it was covered in rust.. got a man that’s going to cut the barrel and tube down to a trapper size for me next week … no need to blue… just keep oil on it

Looking good, I'd do a little more and then rub with Birchwood Casey's rust remover. Last one I did, midway sold a kit from B.C. that had everything needed to blue in one kit, including the rust remover. Looks like they still have it.... https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1006361667?pid=474604

i would have just rubbed the barrel down with oil until i had a nice browned finish. where your at now i would still brown the barrel.
Anyone that owns a gun and votes democrat deserves to have there gun taken, cause they truly are too stupid to own a gun.
