Had a srprize today on the line. I dropped a beaver carcass at a jackpot on my way into camp the other day. Today I was bringing in the generator and noticed this. The beaver had been partially eaten and covered up with debris. I knew right away that a cat had claimed the carcass,so I set 4 snares, and continued into the camp. On my way out a half hour later I noticed this. This jackpot is about 100 feet from the box where I caught the Canary marten. Looks like it might be an interesting season.

Why wouldn’t you wait for it to fully prime?

Why wouldn’t you wait for it to fully prime? They grade by the clarity of the belly.Cats coming on to prime have nice clear bellys a lot of the time. I will be catching cats right thru the season so a couple earlys and a couple lates dont hurt. This big tom has an excellent belly.

Just what the Heck is a "JACKPOT", anyway ? w A jackpot is when they hit the jackpot. Why don't you just answer the question ? This is not hardly the 1st time I have asked It. w

Just what the Heck is a "JACKPOT", anyway ? w A jackpot is when they hit the jackpot. It's a Canadian term for what we call a carcass pile. "Jackpot" just sounds affluent. It's the French influence.
I have nothing clever to put here.
