The gill the wife is holding is 10.5", that's a big gill up here. A 10.5" is a nice one anywhere. Anything over 8" is a nice eating size, IMO.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

Before I looked at your location, I guessed Sandhills in Nebraska based on pics. Nice fish. Pics on the water on the northern prairie can be very deceiving, pics are on a ND lake.

I like it when they go round and around when you set the hook. I call them, circle fish. I haven't targeted them for many years. Nice gills

A little advertising for the southeast> Alabama and florida have produced some record size bream. I have fished Merrits Mill Pond many years ago, but never caught any record sized fish. I hear that it has changed a lot since then. Alabama record bluegill

Those are jumbos very nice! I go to a remote spot and have fun catching them on fly rod. I hardly ever use a spin cast any more everything is fly rod fishing. I kept some the other day for a nice lunch. Remove head and gut them than on the grill for a very short time.
Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime
