The Black Hills (Really mountains) can be rather challenging during the spring breakup. You can drive through the snow or on the snow the same goes with the roads they can get super soft you better have good tires or you’re stuck. You can go miles down a road only to hit a shaded area covered with impassable snow and ice.

That would be a lot of huffing and puffing to do all of them.

I back country hike all the time but not to summit heights. But over 10500/11000 feet been there done that on goat hunts. Goats live on top of the mountain in the nastiest rockiest conditions. Sheep hunting you don't hunt that high but still up there 7000 feet >< feet. Elk, sheep than goat live from lower to highest on the mountain.

You walk all night to get to the summit just at daybreak for goat hunts. Then you hunt and pack out and walk out and you hope that trip out is in the light of day.

Nope- I walked to the top of Sentinel Dome to take a black & white photo of Ansel Adam's iconic wind sweep Jeffery Pine and walked to El Capitan.

Those higher elevations sure suck the wind out of a guy when he’s getting around.

Might suck the air out of a guy but there is plenty of air to suck in on the summit. Lol

The wind howls at 11000> feet on top, no problem for fresh air and plenty of it, just need to grab it. Lol
