The problem with conflicting fur sales in the western US is that there are nay so many weekends in February and March. Sales like Ephi, Fallon,Prineville and Klamath have had certain weekends taken for decades.

Additionally, the facilities that the sales use are also booked for other events, so the choice of dates is slim.

In my opinion, Athol idaho an Klamath falls Oregon are far enough apart geographically that is shouldn’t be a conflict. But then you factor in a lot of buyers are from idaho and Montana, so Athol idaho is much closer.

And then you throw in FH auction and that is another wrinkle in the mix.

Almost a no win situation!!

Ok, just, enough is enough and some people have no idea what they are talking about. The Klamath sale was fine even with limited buyers, crafters, etc. However, it was going to be a bust until George showed up no doubt. Go on OTC facebook page and look at the results. Good cats would have been 250 average and then George showed and it went to 350. Facts!!! Top cat was $1356 but you know, everybody knows what's going on, but it is really purely an opinion/speculation like us all. LOL

Why do Fur sales have to be on weekends? Why have a fur sale at the same time as FHA? Is FHA holding there Auction to early in the year? I would think the end of April first part of May would be better if seasons are ending in February.it would sure make it easier on me if I could use all my time harvestng fur during the season and had a little time to empty the freezer and get stuff boarded before I had to worry about marketing.

The Canadian Auctions used to have Jan, Feb, and May sales Feb and May being the big ones. ( Occasionally they had other minor sales too.)
