My sister-in-law is a very health-conscious 62-year-old retiree. She is a marathon runner (Boston twice). Went to a chiropractor with discomfort in one thigh (IT bands) and casually mentioned an occasional chest spasm. He sent her straight to her family doctor, that day. Several scans later, she was diagnosed with a mass in a lung, and tumors on her spine. The mass is 3 cm. The T-6 vertebra is surrounded by malignant nodules. It is in lymph nodes as well. Sounds bad.

Never smoked. She is the healthiest person I know. Runs several miles before daylight each morning with a small group of girls, then goes to a CrossFit center for a couple of hours, rain or shine.

She lives in Long Beach CA. Maybe the air there is bad, or maybe it is her genetics or just plain bad luck. How can this be?

Cancer is everywhere now. I've done a lot of research on it and everything i've read has me agreeing with Jeff. They have been, and continue to lie to us about nutrition. If you read some of the studies that have been done it becomes clear that in some populations cancer was unknown when they ate a paleo diet. I've also read that 50% of lung cancer is among non smokers.

There is also emerging evidence that the jabs are likely causing a spike in aggressive cancers. My brother in law was diagnosed and dead within 4 months this spring. His oncologist said he had never seen such an aggressive cancer.

Watch some of Dr Seyfrieds videos. I believe he is on to something. I know I would follow his recommendations if I am ever diagnosed.

I had a DNA test ten years ago to determine if I carried BRACA I and II from my moms family. I didn’t. The counselor told me about 50% of all cancer was environmental, 25% was genetic, and the other 25% was stuff happens during cell divisions for no reason.

My test showed no abnormal genes present for 31 different cancers. Five years later I lost a kidney and some colon in the same summer. You never can be certain. That was many years before Covid. I was in my early 70s then.

Three weeks ago found out in the same week my father in law has prostate cancer and my mother in law has lymphoma and the lymphocytes are in her blood and spreading. Crazy that it’s not just one but both of them. Seriously worried that there may be radon or some contaminants in the house which caused them both to get cancer at the same time.

Thats sad. We were worried about radon so did a test. Thankfully our house was good.

Cancer thrives on sugar according to some of the reports I've read. A person who has cancer, eating sugar causes it to spread more rapidly according to the report.

Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

Cancer is such a complex field of study. Many times people who live in the same area, eat the same food, etc etc end up some will get cancer and some not. Genetics is pretty important because certain gene combinations leave you more susceptible.

Free radical damage has a lot to do with it and the longer we live the more free radical damage our cells sustain. But wait! Eating lots of fruits and leafy vegetables , dark chocolate, etc have things called antioxidants in them. Antioxidants move throughout our system and gobble up free radicals as they're being released. I wonder how much cancer could be avoided if people ate the amount of fruits and veggies that the FDA suggests we should.

Among things that produce carcinogens are preservatives in foods, plastic contamination, and of course burnt fats. Pesticides in the food and water we drink are not to be discounted either.

But unfortunately, there is always going to be people that do everything right and get cancer.... and then there's those that smoke, eat poorly, don't exercise, etc etc and live to 100.

Middle age Firefighter near me just died of “environmental cancer”. Never really thought about that before. Guess that’s another hazard of being a Firefighter.

Modern medicine would be the biggest cause of the increased rate of cancer (if there actually has been a statistical rise in cancer rate).
A couple of generations ago, men which were my heroes were dropping like flies from heart failure. They did not get old enough to die from cancer, Now when you have a chest pain, they install a stent up through a vein in your groin and you are as good as new.

I asked my oncologist at the cancer clinic " why?". She said we've got marathon runners that are health conscious and we've got 2 pack of cigarettes and a 40 Oz a day people in here that aren't health conscious. It is more or less luck of the draw. I think there is lots of contributing factors that cause cancer. I wish your sil all the best in beating her diagnosis.

Sorry to hear that. Praying.
Some are environmental, consumption or genetics.
When my daughter was diagnosed at age 2 we all had to do genetic testing. Part of that testing was listing everything we consume, use (all products), details about how and when the house built and so much more. It was very extensive. My daughter's cancerous time was a genetic mutation.

I hope and pray things go well for your sister in law there's over 3,600 different types of cancer a couple of my friends on here and I all had basically the same type of cancer we've all survived it quite well even if I've had other complications from the treatments but I'm still kicking !
