This was probably around 1991 or so. I was still in the AF and doing some local trapping here in NC. This is dad looking at some beavers I'd brought home. There were a few light colored ones in there that looked like western beavers. Great photos, you'll want to hang onto that one! About 10 years ago, I caught one about the same color. Tanned it and the wife made a rug out of it. It hangs on my wall.
Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

I got home from nam in the fall of 69. Had open water on the river, so headed there with my canoe and traps. Big den hole in the bank, and as I was getting close, I was back paddling to slow the canoe down, and bumped the canoe with the paddle. Remember it like it happened yesterday, out of the hole, came the whole family. Four youngsters, two black and two blonde, then dad, he was blonde. Last out came mom, as shiny black as they come. I always thought it was weird how that whole family of beavs was split right down the middle, color wise! For years, there were always a number of blacks on that river, but the last few years I trapped it, they seemed to be getting scarcer. Too old to trap that river now, but there were some big beavs on that river!

You told me them pale colored one's were what you called 'alabama trash' beaver Do you have them down there like that? I've been told the correct term for those is leucistic beaver. It is a recessive gene that causes it. This is the first I've ever caught out of over 7000 beaver. I put this one up with feet and tail on and sold it at the OTC sale for $55
