I had a few birds' years back that looked like wild birds but were a domestic breed, so I was told. They were very interesting and enjoyable to watch.

After several months they started roaming around beyond their typical foraging area getting back into the woods more and more.

We have a good wild turkey population, and those wild birds came thru our place frequently. Our birds started mingling with the wild birds off and on when they came through. I was lucky to watch a few encounters without interfering with those moments. I am sure there were other encounters that I did not witness.

Eventually I noticed one or two left and didn't return to stay and roost as before. Eventually they all left. Not sure if that is normal behavior but that was the deal here.

I raised a bunch of them, years ago. Meat is meat, so there was nothing memorable about it. Nothing positive or nothing negative.

Those, on the other hand are absolutely gorgeous!! At 10 bucks a pop, would be a better investment in any lawn ornament I could think of.

I've heard about blackhead, but raising turkeys and chickens together on and off for 20 years I've not seen it so it must not be too common?

I've enjoyed having a few turkeys around. I get a kick out of the way they strut around and shock gobble at loud noises. I had one that figured out the lawnmower turned up bugs and stuff to eat so he folllowed about 30 yards behind me every time I mowed.

We have raised turkeys for years, broad breasted bronze, we keep them in the fence, chickens on the other side of the fence, no problems raising them next to chickens.

We have Midget White turkeys. A tom and three hens. Easy to raise. Clip the wings to keep them at home. Small enough to eat without endless leftovers. Use a few of the eggs, but hatch most of them. Good sellers.

I would suggest yelling "Bad Turkey" when they do it but I am not an expert.

I have nothing clever to put here.

They crap all over everything unless they are penned. Very messy birds.

I raise 20-25 turkeys a year, broad brested whites. Gobblers weigh 50 pounds at 18 weeks old, hens about 25. Sell some and eat the rest. (They are great brined and roasted or cooked on a fire pit!!) Penned up in a raised pen with a wooden floor. Only problem I have is when I first get them you have to keep a sharp eye on the poults for the first day, as they will lay down on their sides and not be able to get up, just lay there with their legs flaylin'.
