I would think it would take a lot of deer to pollute a river? I'm sure the catfish would agree.

The one I can't figure out to this day is I was trapping coon on a friends farm and it had a pullover spot next to a highway so I pulled in got out of my truck and to the left was a deer hide ,head, legs and a pile of deer meat wrapped up in freezer paper all neatly stacked and left. I mean it was a pile of freezer wrapped meat enough for several deer. I am a little slow but that has always made me wonder.

A river, sure, but around here most water sources are a creek no deeper than your ankle and no wider than 3 or 4 feet. Doesn’t take much to pollute that

Well Wolfie, you are right. I did say I wouldn't comment on your post anymore and I sure did and I truly apologize. I screwed the pooch on that one lol. It hit me at the wrong time because it seems to me a lot of youngins complain about stupid stuff.

I just overheard three young dudes saying how they are hunters and outdoorsman and said AR's should be banned and the one dude said he didn't believe the 2nd covered them. Last week at the Legion me and a buddy were talking about trapping and a group of the young crowd butted in and said trapping is and I quote, "a cruel and archaic practice that should be banned because those teeth on the traps are inhumane".

My point is, if it's a legal act then keep walking and let it be. Truth is, with the gut pile you don't know the circumstances of the hunter. He/She could be handicapped and couldn't lift the deer in the truck and gutted it so it was lighter. Or may they got a call from home, or had to hurry to get to work, or..... Gut piles usually get eaten fast or decompose. Anyway, I am sorry I screwed up and commented on your post.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

But his post wasn’t about leaving the gut pile, it was about taking everything and dumping it off of a bridge because that makes more sense to some yahoo’s than leaving the gut pile where the deer died like you said. You and wolfdog are on the same page unknowingly

I guess you guys have never shot anything in your yard? There are reasons for moving gut piles and ribcages and other parts.

You ever ask a warden what they want you to do with a carcass? Dang hard to dump anything that's not with in a half a mile of a dwelling. They pretty much expect you to bury everything.

That true but I don’t think there are that many yard killed deer here. The bridge and creek I’m talking about are basically in my back yard, on the property we own and live on, we fish and wade in the creek and I’ve seen so many deer carcasses pilled under that bridge in a shallow creek I can’t let my kids actually swim because the water would inevitably get in someone’s mouth. Seems a lot like if I was to dump my carcasses into someone’s backyard pool.

Sorry Wolfie, I'm doing it again lol. What is all the carcass talk? A carcass is the body, the OP is talking gut piles. If you got bodies of deer stacked up like cordwood, you got a special kind of problem.

You know about when they are getting dumped during season. Put up some cameras and get them caught.

Maybe someone's freezer failed and it got too warm ? Just guessing.

Get caught doing the roadside dumping in Mississippi it will cost you $250. Flaming someone that you disagree with here can get you a vacation as well. See at the top the 2nd thing there.

Right on ole boy. That's pretty cool and I appreciate it. And, as a disclaimer, I really do mean it for real and am not trying to influence Drifter from coming at me hard for flaming. grin grin

I believe it's illegal in Indiana. But you will see deer parts at most every pull off ditch ect. Had deer hoofs at the pull in where I took my boys squirrel hunting last week. Hide, hoofs and heads last a lot longer than the guts and ribs.

7 years ago there was an artical in the paper about dogs being skinned alive and dumped. It was a big deal for a lot of people untill the DNA showed they were coyotes. That was apparent to anyone that knew anything about animals from the pictures. Yet that didn't stop all the "experts" from commenting about it.

All started because someone dumped their carcass I'm an atrea with new housed not far down the road and where the new town folk residents decide to go for their walk.

The story was brought to my attention by the guy that dumped them. He had been dumping there for years and didn't think about the new subdivision that got put in on the other side of the tree line and creek being an issue . He was concerned for a while tell it blew over.

Bottom line it's not a lot more work to dump them 30 yard off the road vs, tossing them out of the back of the truck. Out of sight is more polite for the city folks and up in the flat on land makes more since than in the water.

I understand where you are coming from, wolfdog 91. Eventually these carcasses should decompose. I like the compost method myself. You use shavings or some kind of wood waste to cover the carcass up and eventually the worms turn it into nice compost. Just my worthless 2 cents. There's a large scale composting operation that likes dead animal carcasses about 15 miles from home.

I want 3 sets of concrete bins like the places that sell bulk mulch have. One to move to when turning the active pile and the remains for finished pile. Wood chips for a base to cover the dead critters. Figured I could get a lot of dead stuff from bow fishing events along with the rest I produced or scrounge up. But that low on the list of projects.

Several of the hog confinements around here have those. Coyotes like those areas.
