been on it every winter for a few years, got lots of the tree done to around the 1600s

This winter I payed a bit more for more in dept geneology records to confirm what I previously had found

wow, sometimes it pays to spend a extra 50 bucks for 6 months !

Just rescently I confirmed my great great grandfather on half of my mothers side ( ms ) was a Irish immigrant who

moved to the states as a young boy inlisted in the union army and died at Andersonville, his son moved to Ms and became a klansman

The other half of my moms family , my great great grandfather was tarred, feathered, and hung for being a black sympathizer in 1897,

the govenor of Ms at that time issued a $150.00 reward ( over 5 grand today)for information and asked the cops to do their bestto find the killers,

of course nothing at all was solved.

I have deep roots in east Texas, one of my grandmothers was killed in a train incident, havent looked into that one yet just glanced thru records.

My biggest find so far is I aint suppose to be a " French" , my grandma in Pa had a affair while her husband was out selling for Heinz , I had

heard the rumour but never verified it, now I know why my father and his non biological father hated each other

Ancestry isnt for everyone, I enjoy it alot , I think its interesting to find out the truth

and on another note, my dads side thru his mom lead me to a captain of a fire boat in the revolutionary war, now I know why my grandma was part of the sons of the revolutionary war

Well, finding out some of your kin folk were tarred and feathered you surely got your money's worth. Just think if you could go back a few more generations the gems you might uncover!

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

The most interesting part of that is that the son of a Union soldier that died in Andersonville would then move south and become a rebel.

I know that I am related to Daniel Boone, but the actual connection is not clear to me. I suppose an ancestry site would clear that up. Would it be worth paying for it to find out? Not sure.

That almost sounds like some David Alan Coe lyrics. smile

My verified link to Boone comes through my 5th Great Grandmother, who was a sibling of Sarah Morgan- the mother of Daniel Boone.

If you don’t mind my asking what level did you have to pay for for that extra info? I pay for it but want more info (fold) but and waffling on the $

We had some family that was really into that stuff. Problem is when the bull crosses the fence it messes up the bloodlines and back a 100 years ago secrets really were secrets. Just bet the guy that killed those 4 kids in Idaho wishes there was no such thing as DNA. Just wonder how accurate that will be 40 yrs from now?

In the bible they ran bloodlines thru the male. They thought the woman was like an incubator for mans seed. Maybe one day somebody said, wonder why that kid looks like its' mother and started paying attention.
I guess probably with adultery laws it wasn't a problem back then, unless maybe one was to accidentally see a pretty girl bathing one night. Still even with a Gentile or a Moabite, God can fill his purpose.

A lot of pure stuff ain't that pure without Gods' blessing.

Then you are also related to Abraham Lincoln (by marriage)

If one believes the bible then we would all be related to Grandpa Noah. Best not run the ancestry on Grandma Noah, or you could be disappointed.

If you get dialed into a specific region- Working through the local Historical Societies can be extremely cost effective, they often have onsite Genealogist, they preform X amount of research hours for X amount of dollars- they write a complete report and copy documents- I've never paid more than $120 and gather great details and pictures. I tracked my ancestors from Maryland to Jessamine County, Kentucky- entering the Cumberland Gap after Boone and before Lewis & Clark- as one of the earliest settlers of Jessamine County in Kentucky- the Genealogist actually drove to a recorded farm where there was a cemetery and gravesite recorded and is now a Kroger store.

I'm skeptical. How do you know they aren't just making it all up? Seems they'd have to find a few interesting "facts" out to get people to pay a little more for a little more info... Maybe it's totally legit too? Just curious...

A lot of people build a fake family on Ancestry- you need to triangulate a lot of data but you start to link other family trees with ThruLines- your DNA matches those lineages. I benefited by years, generations and linkages that were preserved in a family bible.
