Hmmm... Interesting. Do you think it will be dog resistant? It doesn't seem to be completely dog proof but could still be effective nonetheless. It is a good idea.

my beagle walked all over it, and she didn;t collapse it, i don't know what would happen if a bigger dog went after it, of if they tried to dig it up. i know when you bury it you mess up a lot of didt making alot of eye appeal. there cheeap and lightweight also.

Perhaps another type of bottle. Maybe a Clorox shaped bottle with a small hole. Only a coon would be able to push his foot down the hole. A dog would not fit his paw even by accident and when surrounded by all that dirt it should not crush. If he digs it up aggressively odds are he will upset the trap and not get caught maybe.
It would be light and the plastic parts can sort of nest inside each other in the form of a stack for carrying a lot of them.
Keep building on the idea and test them this season a lot. I think I will try it too!

It would only be good for one catch. The coon would destroy It In a heart beat. But It sure will keep the dogs out.

I don't see why a 2 liter pop bottle won't work for coon, used them for mink on creeks; pre sets! works fine
years ago we used to use the old milk cartons/half gal ones
worked great for mink & coon/cheap and easy to carry

Looks like any dog could get its paw in that hole and if he does it would be easy to trip the trap. Dog proof trap's triggers should be pull type triggers not push down IMO.

Be careful going to the cumberlands site, I got a warning that there were viruses on several of the pages. Take it for what it is worth. Tom

sowhat if he destroys it, it was free, and if he is chewing on the bottle, he might not chew on his foot.

for those who have been giving me constructive criticism, i thank you. here is my 12" beagles paw in relation to the cap of the bottle.

i chose the sunny d bottle, because it just barley housed a sprung 1 1/2 the soda bottle and clorox bottle idea sould work.. the only thing i see is the hole on the clorox bottle is to the side and it might still smell like bleach.just my .002 i'd like to try them sometime.
