no he told you it was a rifle scope and that if you tried it you wouldn't go back . I think he gets up real close to it with it on a rest
we actually see competitive silhouette pistol shooters doing similar they use a rifle scope and hold it very close to them , but since it has no stock it is a pistol shoot yet and it keeps the weight very close to them for better stability
Vortex makes a 2-7x32 scout rifle scope with 9 inches of eye relief that might get you more where you want to be
magnified pistol scopes are getting much fewer
probably because of the pistol brace , I have a couple braced pistols that run traditional rifle scopes fairly long eye relief scopes but not even the scout style 9 inch , they actually shoot a bit more like a short rifle but make stupid laws find creative solutions.

I missed that first line in his post because I was focused on his photo. I missed the pistol part in the title the first time , it's all good this is probably one of those times when it is worth a road trip visiting a store with a big selection take your pistol with the bolt out and the old scope out of the mount and be able to set scopes on your mount and rubber band them down see what will work for you , get down in your prone shooting position and try it

Great advice to bring it in though. I called one old fashioned Gun Shop that had tons if scopes last time I was there...he said he had Only Red dots for pistols. So I might call around before driving. All shops are 1.5 hours away from me.

if you said max 150 I would go red dot , but at 250 well you should look through one at a target 250 yards away and see what it looks like
I loose the target easily in my red dot at 200 and that isn't a brown target on a brown background
you can use the simplified fast range estimation for looking at distances , I have gone to some big stores like gander and cabalas and when I was down to 2-3 scopes ask them to accompany me to the front of the store I needed to see more distance , I had paced off the parking lot from where I had parked and knew where my distance was I would looking to see something at
when I bought my binoculars it was at a street sale I was comparing how far I could read peoples shirts or see faces in blocks
simplified range estimation without optics
100 face 200 no face 300 no hands 400 no head 500 no light between legs if they are walking 600 they look like a /\ triangle
you could even park your truck at 250 and put a target in the window so you can see it from the front door of the store

I was just looking through a 2x old straight tube Redfield rifle scope ,Rubberbanded like was said on the Striker. Using my tripod shooting stick . My wife measured forehead to Scope at 2" to see fully. Now that's so short of eye relief because it's an early 70's scope. So a modern Rifle scope with a 3.5" relief would be even better. In the shooting house/ blind on the window sill it really could be A close riflescope or long eye relief pistol Scope used. Same for a tripod set up. This Striker has ZERO Movement backwards from recoil, it will kill unprotected ears, but seriously zero recoil. So no ScopeEye hold it where is would be most comfortable in a prone , seated and shooting house type senario , not where you can see but where it is comfortable for you pistol scopes are typically 15 inches scout scopes are 9 inches eye relief most Vortex rifle scopes are 3.7 inches that 9 might be a sweet spot for you , the other thing is if it won't interfere with the bolt handle you could cantilever the scope back further with the right mount

I have Bushnell 2X6 elite's, Leupold 2.5X8, and Burris 3X12's that I use for my longer range single shots.
I don't usually scope my six guns but I do have a leupold delta point pro red dot with a 2.5 inch dot on my FA 454.
I've had no problems on any of those scopes.

there are a lot of options now in electronic hearing protection , lets you hear even better than normal then cuts out for the shot
I have a few rifles with muzzle brakes , great to see the bullet impact the target at 200 yards less great to stand next too. the gun doesn't move but all the air around it does.
I had a muzzle break on a 10.5 inch 223 pistol , it already had so little recoil the brake just made it unpleasant to shoot and didn't seem to change the muzzle recoil enough to matter
the 308 rifles with brakes it makes recoil significantly less

I'm not holding my breath until you buy one. LOL I think that money of yours aint seen the light of day in years. I Haven't had appreciable spending money since my Brown Bear hunt with Waggler in 2018 So that being said...I'm running through my options...I decided against a New Caliber which would thin out My Ammo money in the future. I'm souping up my Savage Striker in .243 so both Dad and I can use it . I am hoping to still have Ammo money afterwards.

But you know buying guns is like having kids, if you wait til you feel like you are comfortable to afford them with the amount of money you have, you may never have them.

If you want to shoot it or look through it, I am only in Forest Lake. I do get to Pine once in awhile.
The Crossfire gives you fair eye relief. When you get on your target you simply back away a couple inches from the scope. You will still see the cross hairs just fine, just the field of view will be smaller. With a few shots, you get used to it. I went the Burris route when I first started with the TC. Once I started with rifle scopes I sold them.
WS I'm 99% ready to buy this Vortex Crossfire II 3-12x56mm AO Hog Hunter Riflescope w/ V-Brite Reticle CF2-31049, Color: Black, Tube Diameter: 30 mm, 19% Off w/ Free Shipping
