Well he might be along ways from New York but Coonman is across the state from Wells Enterprises main plants which are located in Le Mars, Iowa which are hiring weekly.

I knew that Iowa has some dairy processing plants. Wonder if they let you take some ice cream home with you. I bet his cats would like some ice cream.

I worked a pork processing plant and at the end of the day a guard would handle your stuff to make sure you weren't stealing pork. After 8 hrs of handling the stuff I sure didn't want to take any home with me. Of course they checked for stolen knives and stuff.

30 years ago I worked a summer job at an ice-cream plant in Manitowoc WI (now it is Cedar Crest, Lake to Lake previously) and we had ice-cream daily in the break room. Any damaged goods were fair game for employees. That summer several 3 gallon tubs of ice-cream were consumed at home and at various summer functions. Worked enough hours to buy my first truck, a used 1988 Chevy S-10, 4x4 extended cab with 5 speed stick. Ran that truck all over the Midwest. One of the best summer jobs I had.

Dang, that’s rough!!

Thanks. I worked the night shift there with several other guys, half were on Huber Law work release and couldn’t drive a vehicle. We staged grocery orders and started putting the orders on delivery trucks and semi trailers around 4am. Well when all the trucks and trailer were full we slowed until a driver came in to spot another truck or trailer. One morning I offered to swap out a trailer in dock 3 of 5 and my Supervisor was not buying it. I bet him a box of frozen Snicker bars that I could do it. Little did he know I grew up working on a farm

He had to show me how to start the Mack yard dog and get it hooked up because I didn’t know how to do that. I pulled the refer trailer loaded no problem and he was looking a bit nervous watching me. Got an empty refer hooked up and once I had it straight it was a piece of cake to back in watching the dock lights on either side. I was kinda nervous myself! After that the Plant Manager found out my background, had me sign off on driving and I ended up spotting trailers half my shifts plus a little pay bump.

Certain companies no longer require a drug test. I read that yesterday.

Forget about it. The ice cream will be too cold for the gloves the company provides him or something. He'll be worried about drowning in ice cream from the "dumb lazy colored person" working next to him.
