All this talk about wrinkled rats an boards and clothespins. You guy have spent too much time in the laundry room. I’m in Florida and when I get home in March I’ll take the rats down that went up in January. No boards. No clothespins. No wrinkles. But what do I know. I’ve only done a million or so.

Amen...some of you guys overthink everything.

Somewhere around here I have a NAFA Top Lot cert or two for my over-dried, wire stretched rats.

So all your rats are still on the forms? Must have 1000s of forms.

At least some of us aren't arrogant and quit dealing with NAFA before the head hanchos stole everyone's money.

There is one thing I see those that use wire for there rats , they do not pin the nose in place over the top of the wire they let the nose slid down on the wire and it will be down grade some because of it , also when I was down to sell my furs to my fur buyer I see someone cut a window in there otter. You do not put a window on otter. Just to let some know some tips that will help them. When I did ship to NAFA in the past I did get top lot for some of my rats, mink, coon and coyote.

It all depends on how you skin out the nose. If your a bit rough on the nose or I should say lack of nose it won't stay In place on the form.

Arrogant? Maybe a little. Left nafa before the honchos ran off with the money? No they fired me along with everyone else on October 31. And they owe me a ton of money.

So Terry are you leaving your rats on the forms for 4 days or 10 days or only 2 days. That's the gist of this thread.

Yup,i skin them out with the nose on and never have them slip off the wire.I have had some that have had the face chewed by a mink after being caught though and that's a different story.

At my shop it’s 4 day or whenever I get to them.
A trick to noses is rather then pulling the nose straight off when finishing cut the nose and pull down, there is a piece of skin behind the top teeth that if u slip over the teeth it will stay intact and hold noses on the stretcher. Very easy once u figure it out.

I rub my muskrats with bear grease and rub my bears with coon grease, rub my coon with mink grease,,and rub my minks with chicken fat then rub my chickens with beaver oil,,rub my beavers with fox and coyote grease, then rub my fox and coyotes with muskrat grease. That way nothing gets wasted. smile
