I'm in a discussion with a couple of guys on FB. Several people seem to think this is a red fox. I have a little experience trapping both reds and grays, and I don't see any indication this is a red fox. What say you?

red whistlei see no indication it's a grey.

We have very few reds here. I have never seen one with any silver or grey coloring on its back like that.

Yes, reds get silvery in the back like that. Usually not a good thing as far as grading goes.

You ever see a red grey fox? The only thing that isnt really visible outside the predominant red coloration is that the white top of the tail isn't noticable. All the physical attributes are off

Looks like a red to me, even in a night time pic. And I have ZERO experience with greys.


When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.
