Well I'm thinking about getting a scope mount that has a built-in 20 MOA cant.
I've read some mixed thoughts on the cant. Some say it's necessary for any long range rifle others say it's only necessary for a scope that doesn't have enough MOA adjustment for reaching that distance.
Some say it's not necessary with a flatter shooting cartridge and some say it's not necessary with a modern FFP reticles with all of the hash marks and dots for hold over...
I don't know enough to determine either way. I plan on putting a vortex 5-25x50 PST gen 2 with a FFP ebr-2c reticle in a spure 20 MOA qr mount on top of a bergara HMR pro 6.5 CM.
I know this isn't a sniper forum but I'm sure some of you shoot long range.
Thanks Ken

I installed one on my 308 , technically I wouldn't have needed it for a 600 yard shot but if I want to try and go 1000 at any point I would need it
my goal is 880 this year last year I went 500 and ran out of range I think I can do 880 as soon as the corn comes down.
I got mine more because I needed a picitiny rail to be able to move my scope forward about 3/4 of an inch from as far as it would go with the 2 peice factory bases
as long as I am buying the rail I figured why not get the 20 moa of elevation with it.
I went with the EGW the EGW comes with new screws and the torx bit that fist them perfectly it mounted up well and seems to be shooting fine I only got it re-zeroed at 100 with plans to stretch it out to 200 this weekend , can't go past 200 till the corn comes down.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Sounds like you are spending a good chunk of money into a nice set up. How far are you planning on shooting? The gun should have plenty of range and the scope will have a good amount of dial adjustment by itself. But if you are going way down town it doesn't hurt to have some (20moa) extra elevation.
Gun Nut Well it's gonna be used for coyotes and deer for the most part but if it's gonna cost as much as it does I want to the the long range capability. The scope has 70 moa of adjustment without the added 20 moa, but it looks like with the 20moa it will shoot 1200y

Depending how your gun zero's you may need a 30 moa cant. It's hard to guess how the gun will sight in. My 24" bushmaster has a 15moa cant and it get's the 75 gr pills to 750 yards easily with a Leupold Mark AR scope that does not have much turret adjustment but it sights in a bit low cheating the turret a little bit. The 20 moa cant on Both my RPR's was pretty close to 15 moa plus adjustment so I have about 90 moa left.
