the boys here are suprisingly accurate with them.

All that to kill a seal! We just .... oh never mind. smile

OH MAN I MISS UQUQ! Hard to get good seal oil in the interior. They don't like people bringing it on planes since that one jar broke on the jet a couple years ago...I think it was that "heated to render" southeast stuff, good SW stuff doesn't stink like whatever the hazmat team was called in for...but I might not remember the whole story correctly.

Rumors of my assimilation have been greatly exaggerated.

About 30 years ago, up at Selawik, I learned that while I could eat bits of raw, half-frozen caribou meat OK, if I dipped it in hot seal oil it just got bigger, the longer I chewed it...!

Been a bit chilly here too and I am beginning to wonder if I will be doing my annual open water beaver trapping or not. If the sloughs freeze up I will be drilling ice for beaver all dam winter frown

First frost a couple of days ago. Bugs are thinning out and the leaves are starting to drop... got our termination dust yesterday. Silvers in the rivers are getting darker, dollies are getting spawning colors and the deer are getting fat. Lit the wood stove last night for the first time since late April. Love this time of year!

Your fall open water beaver are typically taken for bait and the castor, right? How's the fur on them usually that early in the season?

You can get real close as long as you stay on your side of the wire.
