i have used it on fox traps - no problems

have dipped mid day then set them the next day! again, no problems! this was done purposely to see if it would be an issue!

some folks will find fault in anything though!!! \:\)

I used it last year and and in my part of the country it just didn't work for me. I dunno if it was digging problem from the scent or if it was due to rain an peatmoss. Not sure so I just switched to dye and wax and dry dirt to eliminate both of the variables. Not saying it isn't good stuff I just didn't like it compared to the old way. To each his own i guess.

I planned on letting it dry good then waxing.

I've heard lots of different views, that dyeing isn't really nessacary if waxing, etc.

We get good amounts of moisture and freeze/thaw.

Just for the record, I did wax over the F-1 and it did ok. It did turn my wax black in a hurry, and only left them in for 10-15 seconds as to not get them to to hot. I bought new wax after that and started w/ fresh wax and logwood dye. Just my personal preference.

I use it on my snares and still catch coyotes and fox. I'm sure it is fine on traps too but it's too fast and easy for me there is no time to drink beer. \:\)

FWIW- Slim Petersen uses F1 on all his coyote traps.

I agree that I just like boiling traps, it's a ritual.

As ADC stated, I been using it for a few years on my fox and coyote traps with few problems. I use it because after 35 years of boiling and waxing, the ritual became a huge big chore. lol

It is not perfect by any means, but it is fast and easy. I do thin it more than the instructions say to mix things for the first dipping, and then dip the traps about 3 or 4 times in that thin mixture to get a good coating on them. I make it thinner the first time so that it will get into the coil springs and other real tight places better. After the first time, I just mix as instrutions say to. I started doing this while away from home a few thousand miles where boiling, dying and waxing were usually impossible to do.

Unlike my results with gasoline mixture dips, I have seen no adverse reactions by animals to the dipped traps. All the gasoline (yes, I know coleman fuel etc.) dips seemed to take a long long time to cure out and dry well, and would work well, but the second time around, after washing traps and redipping because of worn areas from trapped animals scrapping against rocks, sand etc. I found that animals would dig up most of the traps, even after allowing them to air dry in sun for months. Have not had such problems with formula one.

I have used formula one for three years and have not seen any bad reactions from fox or coyotes at all.

how many times did you dip them and did it hold up as good as wax and dye or did it come off easier when you make a catch I am going to try it on some of my traps and wax and dye the rest any one else try this to see how it worked

It does not hold up as well to animals caught in traps, and does come off easier, no question about that. However, I take them home, rinse them with water, redip one time and let them dry overnight and use the traps again the next day.

Only F-1 for me too.
I figured.........if it's good enough for Slim and Newt and so , so many others with many more years trapping experience than myself, then it's good enough for me

I dipped my 3 dozen coon traps 4 times until they were pretty dark then I noticed it came off pretty quick so I waxed over them and they worked great. I think i'm going to do my coon traps and my k-9 traps that same way this year. Have a good one. ~Dan~
