Here is one to start with and one of our favorites. It is almost like a dessert!
Auntie Marie and Me Cornbread
14 inch Dutch Oven
5 cups of Auntie Maries (Marie Calender’s cornbread mix) 2 cup half and half 2 egg Juice and zest of one orange (or of one lemon) What my family likes is to add 1 ½ cup shredded coconut Add water for consistency (make fairly stiff, not much evaporation)
Pre-heat a little with 10 briquettes on bottom 25-30 on top (Arrange on the outside of the lid and outer perimeter of the bottom) Check in 25 minutes
You will know when it is done by smell, it pulls away from the dutch , tooth pick comes out clean or, my way is by sound when thumping on golden brown center!
