Just wondering if anyone has used them and how did they hold up? Especially how well did they do with Coyotes? Any thing pro or con would be appreciated....

If you're talking about the ones specifically designed for trapping, I use alot of them, from coyote to coon. Never had a problem of any sorts with them. Have had a coyote distort a couple of them, but not close to the point of failure. They make swapping traps easy as well.

STM,
Yes those are the ones I'm talking about. The ones they advertise with the Pogo system. I was thinking of giving them a go next year but was a bit concerned with how they would hold up to a coyote. If they can hold a coyote they will handle anything I'll run into. Thank you for answering I greatly appreciate it.

I bought some to try out next season, too.

Remember reading a thread here a while back (week/two weeks ago) about them. Some guys have had bad luck and don't like using them for yotes. Other guys haven't had any problems.

I figure that they're cheap enoufgh so I'll probably use two per yote set or set likely to catch coyotes. Just a little bit of insurance. On the sets I don't think they'll be interested in/likely to get cought in, I'll just use one per set.

Geezerman, I picked some up at the end of the season and didn't try them yet. But next season I will try a few. I'm sure the 3/16 or 1/4 will hold just about anything. The split rings are a lot less expensive but wasn't sure how strong they were. That's why I posted the question here to see how others have made out with them.

Thanks TexA, That's the kind of answer I was looking for. I haven't tried the Conner springs yet but am looking at them real hard. There will definately be some of them in my arsenal for next season as well...

Go with the 3/16 quick links.I've had coyotes stretch the split rings open and lost the trap and coyote.Wont use them again.I carry a little wrench to tighten the links nut. There easier to disconnect from the cable stake if you can't get them out.

I'm curious who as a trapping company makes split rings designed specifically for trapping?

I would venture to guess that the trapping supply companies buy them from other mfg and resell them?

I've used some I've purchased from Pogo, Ace, Tri County Dairy and Farm & Fleet. All look identical (sp) and have had some open up from Coyotes from all sources.

I will never use them on Coyotes again, after losing a couple MB650s one learns in a hurry.

Wouldn't that also be the end of the yote with the snare that tight around his arteries?

Well, I've hear a lot about the split ring contraversy. I have some and use them quit a bit. I mostly use them for drags, but have had no problems with them. I bought mine from a farm supply as cow collars, for the old type ear tags. I'm a pretty good size little feller and I can hang a drag on a tree limb, pull myself up and hold my weight over 200 lbs and yank the heck out of the chain and not do any dammage to mine. I did change from the 2/0 dog chain to # 3 machine link chain, because I was deforming the 2/0 chain. Most complaints come from people that buy the cheesy ones that are made from key ring material. All I can say is try it out for yourself and if in doubt test it out and try your hardest to make it fail, if you can't pull it apart or deform it, then a coyote isn't as strong as a man.
