I caught my first beaver and I want to know how to skin it? If anyone could help me I will appreciate it. Do I need to case skin it like a coon or what?

make one cut from the bottom lip right down the center of the belly to the tail, cutting the feet off first makes skinning easier too. watch out and don't cut the castor glands and oil sacks or open up the guts(big mess ifin ya do lol).
you will have to cut about all the hide off not much pulling to be done on a beaver.

cotten got it right on the nail but when your skinning it try to keep all the fat and meat off because i learned th hard way and had a heck of a time fleshing it

cut right by the feet all the way a round like a coon and cut the foot off

but i dont need to cut the fur like a case skin on the legs right just pull it over and cut

I think you're nuts. He just posted about his first the other day.

Dcoon...one cut from lip to tail (through anus), around tail, around each leg (where fur meets leather).

Do not cut down the sides of the legs...just pull it over.

No what it was I was given 40 beaver tails and this is my first I actually caught and skinned. And thanks for all the help.

Because I just started trapping but there aint no way I got 40 beaver I just started trapping 2 months ago!

all that means Im 15 and i caught 2coons a gray fox 1 beaver and dont know why but i was given 40 beaver tails

I would have to say no it is hard enough to skin them with out cutting it all the way . After you get the nack of skinning you don't have a lot of fleshing ther is some but learn to pull the hide down with out cutting it helps in not getting a lot of fat.
The more you pull it the less chance your going to nick the hide and if you do that ther goes the price of it . So be very very Careful hope this helps you
