Got a coon board and I'M planning on making some more. The only thing is the one I got has about the First 2" cut off so it does not come to a point is this a problem or is this how they should be?

Does anyone have a board like the one I described above.
I'm just trying to figure out if I will get less money on a Coon if the board is this way

The boards that I have bought and made have a 1/2 to 3/4 inch flat at the top, as invaribly if there is a sharp point it can and will get damaged from removing a tight pelt either by gently prying up on the nose or slightly banging end of board on floor.

Maybe I'm rough as a cob on equipment by am sure am not the only one with an extremely tight pelt on a board.

confused about what your saying but, jfyi, coon pelts are measured from nose to base of tail, not tip of tail...

Didn't know that but, I was thinking with no nose on the board then in theory you should be able to pull it down a bit further on the board. In any case the length should be the same on a board with a nose and one without

I have seen these boards and I think if you hang the board by the nose the weight of the board will give you a pointed nose.

Atleast that is the way it was explained to me.
