OK it has taken me a while to do this, mainly because the mice etc have been cleaning out the tubes of the bait. I have had cleaned out tubes with no coon on the video for days. I have several to download so bear with me as it takes a bit.

Peanut butter is on right, marshmellows on left. As you can see the first coon just goes through with no response to them. It should be noted that NO coons have come through this spot since my last videos. This one that did failed to stall out and work the tubes.

Yesterday I added Coydog's super duper Cherrybomb lure to a third tube in the center. On the addition of that, numbers of coon after days of no activity in this area are working the area for food. They do not dig overly hard at the third tube, but my oh my look how they work the general area over better than any other wideo I have put up. Coydogs lure is a very intense loud cherry smell that permeates an area. I think I am learning that you can stall coons out and start thier front paws to working with a good lure, but as Rick Kaspar has told me you gotta give em something to eat too.

Here is first one, will take a bit for me to put the others on.

No surprise at all. I've been saying for a while....the best results I've ever had in my tinkering was with cherries. I had several coons swim out to muskrat sets in the middle of large beaver ponds when they were baited with marschino cherries.

John Epler makes a cherry coon bait as well. I have a few jars of it....but have not used it yet.

Now watch this. These next were all activity from the very same night. This is still the same location we have been watching for some time now, in fact you can see Gary's bullfrog in the water. At no time have we seen the coon working thier front feet like this, and stay in this area for so long. The addition of the strong cherry smell seems to have stalled them out much longer, and make them much more interested in finding food. In one of these videos you will see a coon fish a marshmellow out of the tube and just leave it lay.

Great footage Bruce! Notice how the coon never looks into the water while hunting for food. Why Ive always felt gadgets on the pan (crayfish, frogs, etc.) are a waste of time. Their sense of touch is nothing short of amazing. They can instantly detect by feel what is food and what is not. Right now the coon are really starting to feed on Elderberry, choke cherry, and pretty soon Hackberries. I would be interested in seeing what reaction you would get with Elderberries in the tube, and a shot of Perssimmon oil next to it and choke cherries with cherry essence in the other. A pocket set nearby would be interesting as well baited with just plain old fish. Clint L. has nothing on you Bruce. This is good stuff. Thanks

It was like once they got close, they couldn't help but get in the water and start feeling around.
Looks like that particular coon flipped it out of the tube to see if some real food was underneath it! lol

Good pictures, What kind of camera. Looked like a couple of pipe sets and a couple of blind water sets and you could move on.

Awsome post K-9. When I video the buckets, I find that with just bait, and no fish oil, I get limited visits. Add the fish oil or even "fox gland lure" I get multiple visits a night.

Would love to give that cherry stuff a try.

Those cameras are a great learning tool, very interesting to be able to see just how the coon will react to certain baits/lures prior to season. How much do those cameras cost? Hey I never got a chance to thank you for hooking me up with your meat guy at the NTA. My partner and I found him working the gate and talked to him for about a hour and worked out all the details for the fall, very nice guy. Thanks again K9!!

thanks for posting.. to be honest given where I "would" have placed traps on those pipes, I think i would have missed about half of them given they stood further back when they stuck their hands in the pipe.
I did notice that they went for the pipe on the left more than the right. So marshmellows over PB.. hm....
I've tried Marshmellows in the past with zero success on them. wonder if I was using them too late in the season?
