My forst try at posting a trail cam video. The camera is the Scoutmaster sold by Cameron on here. Two PVC's at the waters edge, not angled in any way specific to bring the coon around one way or the other.

PVC to the right is Stefs "Pro Coon"

PVC to the left is Slim Pedersons "Trouble Finger"

Coon went to the Pro Coon first but spent more time at the Trouble Finger. Lure is inside the tubes. I was surprised the coon did not dig his feet into either tube, like they do on my line. However on my line I always have some fish down the tube, and that might be the difference. There is really nothing to reach for in these tubes that would cause a coon to dig at them, just the smell of the lure.

This pond is loaded with frogs etc, and is surrounded by corn. Lot's of food source for this coon.

If I get time today, I will just put in a small piece of fish in each tube, and see if that makes the coon step up and work the tubes hard like they do on my line in the fall. Then we can see how the coon lures are complimented by the additions of bait to the set. It could also be that this coon just flat out is not hungry, as he is surrounded by food source at this spot. I know both lures I am testing are excellent lures. I will try to see what bait does for these tubes.

Nice Video Bruce. It'll be interesting to see what happens when you give them some bait to grab.

Bet you can't wait to use that on some coyotes.

Looked to me like the same amount of time and movement at each pipipe and and that the pipe had as much to do with the coon's curiosity as anything. Will be interesting to see how the coon reacts to fresh fish...oh and both sets would have taken the critter, good heavy foot placement right where the trap would have been...Thanks for posting, will be watching for your next one. Are you going to try 2 different kinds of fish? It would be interesting,IMO, if you did. Maybe smelt in one and whatever in the other???

That is a hard one to call. The lure on the right actually got 1st responce. When the coon first came in he was more left handed than right handed, in other words, he was set up to go left. But he went to the right. Now the rub comes in. The coon never comitted himself to the right pipe. The pipe on the left had a lot more apeal than the other pipe or it seams to be that away. The pipe on the left had the coon all over it. The one on the right did not fare as well.
I do think the pipe on the right would have caught the coon easy enough.

Yep had I been trapping this I would have angled the pipe to make the coon be over the trap to work it. I will add fish and see what difference there is. Keep in mind this is not a fall coon putting on fat, and he is surrounded by food.

After the fish experiment I will try another couple baits and see what happens, with new pipe that does not have these lure smells on them.

Yes I will be trying some coyotes out too. Just working on coon first. I had this set up for a week on coyote lure, but did not have the camera setting right so it did not video.

This is a Scoutmaster camera sold by Cameron on the forums. $180

This video is a farce for sure!!! That is not an Iowa coon, do you see how small it is!!! All of ours are worth at least $40.00. I think you got that footage in Alabama or close to it!!! smile

Probably only the wind direction got him to chose one over the other first. Makes you think though about the guys using just lure on sheeps wool in a Griz.

I wish I had some of my bait made for you to put in one of the pipes Bruce. wink

LOL BigT he's in southern Iowa not up there by you where all the really big money coon are.

No that's gotta be an Iowa coon. Those are 6 inch pipes sticking out of the water at least 20 inches-Ha!!!

Great video K9. I would love to see more of these, too.

Nice Video K-9! I also have two of those camara's and My question is why did it start filming before the coon was in the picture? I also think the footage makes the case for bait forsure.

OK I put fish in each pipe along with the lure that was already there. We shall see if there is any difference.

If I have a coon visit tonight, tomorrow I plan to completely change the pipes and try fish oil VS fish juice. After that peanut butter VS marshmellows. I will keep reporting my results.

Jayme if ya mix some up I will show the results on here.

I will keep using this same spot, and ya never know, we might get visits from the same coon each time. This is an Alabama coon which has illegally immigrated to Iowa. The only other video I had last night was a coon climbed the tree right over the game cam, and I got a good shot of his belly as he went over the top of it.

I have been calling this cam the Scoutmaster, it is actually the Scout Gaurd.
