Chicken? People actually buy that? I buy beef and ham. That is all a guy needs. No yard bird.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I am a little more picky about chicken because often it was the way overpriced yuppie chicken and it only gets it down to the price of regular chicken.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Speaking of chicken, if anyone is ever around Leary Ga at lunch time, stop in Red’s. That joint has some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten! Fried chicken, collard greens, beans, and corn bread was an awesome lunch. Dont even remember what I paid, but it didn’t matter, lol!

I just bought the $6.60 chicken legs, but had $1.00 off sticker, so $5.60. Now to turn that into 12 Dungeness crabs ! We live about 60 miles from the coast and the Coast Guard called this morning, they have a bird issue they need help with so calling the crabbing trip a business trip. Win Win.

Agreed!!!!
Mom burned me out on chicken. Fried chicken, baked chicken, shake & bake chicken, chicken salad.
Cheap way to feed 5 kids back then.
We’d butcher 150 a year.
I’ll still eat it, but only as a guest lol.

Jeepers,..for anyone that has sold many a chicken,.a full breasted corny cross is most likely to provide a family with at least maybe four meal within the course of a week. Chicken giving its full potential might just raise a few eyebrows!

My dad was the same way. As a depression era kid he said there was always chicken to eat, and a lot of the time not much else.

I still look at and spend every dollar like there aren’t many more to be had. I often wish I could let go and be a little more free in how I look at $$$, but I also know it’s served me and my family well.

Guess I’m the guy who puts down $11.63 for the $11.63 chicken and am x2 checking the receipt on the way out.

That's a great story.

I just buy what I need, I don’t look at the price.

I am glad I live in a place where an average chicken does not cost $11.63 even with our current inflation. We raise 30 or so a year and sell enough to cover the price of the feed and the chicks. Still with labor etc. they are not cheap but are 7lbs. roasters and way better than those in the store in my opinion.

Since the kids are grown and gone and I’m single, I get what I want, but I’m still tight with my money.
