If you do design something follow thru and have it manufactured. I made a culling system to keep deep water smallmouth alive during hot summer . Simple clip that goes on the top dorsal fin so they remain upright and can move their mouths while in the livewell. Made myself and 3 other buddies a set. been using them for 6 years now. My son sent me a text last week showing me a set just like my design for sale on the internet. 59.99 per set !!!

To OP, find out if its legal for a 13 year old to go to work for service job businesses. Around these parts, there are swarms of commercial weed whackers that are in constant need of help. Long hours riding mowers and running weed eaters. Then if that is legal, find out what they pay and hours offered vs. what gramps is doing. That is outdoor work. Indoor work might include busing tables and washing dishes at some choke and puke. Or stocking shelves at just about any retail store.

If you are a whiz kid with computers, the guy that I have to call charges $100 per hour. You might be amazed at how much money you could make doing what for you might be simple elementary stuff for the geezers and geezettes who can barely turn the things on.

The key to any of it is to show up, show up on time and do what is asked of you.....no complaints. A kid that can do that stands out and is noticed. Or as the old saying goes.......cream rises to the top.

lets say that was 1970 and you made 3 dollars an hour , in 2024 dollars that is $24.15

so if you think about it your grand daughters is making $1.50 in 1970 dollars.

As a kid I worked in boat yards and did anything they asked, just helped the regular crew any way I could. I learned a lot. While in college we cleaned/washed windows, that is big money. We made sure the owner was home and followed us around checking each window. Lots of repeat customer and big bucks there while going to school. both hard work but interesting.....jk

At 13 I was mowing a hand full of yard, I worked for my uncles tree business dragging brush, and raked leafs in the fall. Infact I started doing most of that by 10. My uncle paid me 50 a day. Most yards were 20 to 30 with a push mower and weed eater. With no bills I always had a nice wad of cash on me. I was also tight so not spending it made it add up fast.

Edit to add. Check out the fermenters forum... Just don't get caught sampling to much or selling the product. Hight profit business if you get good at it. But that's bad and illegal advice for your age. So if it's illegal may as well build a still. Again I'm kidding kind of .

I wish I would have worked with a carpenter at some point. Decks, roofs, finishing basements ect. I can learn quickly, but now I dont have anyone to learn from and there are a ton of scenarios throughout life where these skills will come in handy to save 1000’s.
I have several buddies who have done some of this work themselves because, theyre men, they can handle it! They watch youtube. And the majority of it looks like crap. Best of luck to them on the resale of their homes.
Look for that lone handyman who just needs a helper and keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Same goes for an auto mechanic. Even if wrenching on cars is the last thing you're interested in, learning to do basic maintenance work like oil changes, brakes, spark plugs, etc., will save you tens of thousands of dollars throughout your life.

Go to the redneck repair shop in your town and tell the owner you don't know a lot about cars but that you're a fast learner and would like to learn not only to make a few bucks but because you think knowing how to work on cars is a good skill to have.
