I have all my wood imported from Africa and South America. But, all my neighbors seem perfectly content with the local hardwoods. Even pine in the campfire is fine.

Love the smell of Black Cherry wood smoke, kinda like 1/2-1/2 pipe tobacco.

When we used to backpack a lot hunting and fishing around here, dad always demanded to find dead chestnut. Light, makes a hot fire, and doesn’t put off as much smoke.
