What wood do you like best for a camp fire and what wood do you like best for heating your garage (wood burner)?

Hardwoods, such as oak, etc., yield the most BTU's in a woodstove.

I have all my wood imported from Africa and South America. smile

But, all my neighbors seem perfectly content with the local hardwoods.

Even pine in the campfire is fine.

If you want some snap crackle and pop in your campfire. Very dry spruce works very well.

Love the smell of Black Cherry wood smoke, kinda like 1/2-1/2 pipe tobacco.

For a look at campfire I like black cherry not fully seasoned. Burns with all sorts of colors.

When we used to backpack a lot hunting and fishing around here, dad always demanded to find dead chestnut. Light, makes a hot fire, and doesn’t put off as much smoke.
