So it’s quite possible that I’m just brain dead, but I’ve read the forums for pan tension on MB750’s, that I bought to try out. I upgraded to a stainless bolt and lock nut, but when I move the pan they loosen up almost immediately.

I’m trying to run 4-5 pounds and the pan isn’t moving freely and as I said, it loosens up quick.

Somebody help a fella out. I’m used to Bridger 5 coils with POS I trip pans. I just want something easy and repeatable.

So you are using a nyloc nut?-they can’t really loosen up maybe just keep tightening and eventually should get to where you want to be.

A fella would think they can’t loosen up. But they sure are.

Is there a flat washer between pan and lock nut?

I put one there. I removed it as it seemed to be part of the problem. I might just try double nutting the stupid things

I noticed if there was ANY dip on the dog or under the pan it would have super light pan tension. My 2 cents

You have to have a lock nut. But yeah if you work the pan back and forth or set and spring them quite a bit they tend to loosen up.

Get the tension where you want it and then only move the pan to set the trap. If you are worried about it loosening up after you make a few catches and are resetting on the line you can carry a wrench with you.
