How many FHA wild fur shippers are from the Canadian Provinces ? Is this closely guarded, proprietary information of the FHA auction ? Is anyone on here privy to this data or is it a tightly held secret ? If not, Does anyone care to make/take an educated guess on the numbers ? Most of our friends from the US that attended the convention hail from NY,Mich and MInn.With some from Penn,Ohio,Wisc.and some other mid west states,dont remember many from south This is not an indicator of shippers though. This is more likely due to proximity to North Bay. Always had great fun hanging out with some of those boys "after hours" at convention time back in the day. Last edited by Boco; 04/24/24 12:03 PM. gibb trapper G Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,598 Timmins Ontario	The majority of the fur on the first sale of the season would be Canadian like about 70% vs 30% US on the second sale of the year it would be the other way around mostly 60% US vs 40% CDN. Our season starting earlier and we are trained to put-up our fur and ship Selling to private buyers was not common we had two auction houses in Ontario.. Now that was back in the day when we had a sale in Feburay and May Ontario would be the main source of the Canadian fur followed by Quebec from the US it would be New York, Michigan and Minnesota. Todays world may be different but they don't seem to be able to capture near the volume that NAFA use to handle. They always pay the Ontario trappers first.

So while the Canadians may have historically shipped a higher volume of fur to the FHA auction, The question remains: Are there more Canadians with FHA accounts that ship fur ? Or are there more American Trappers with FHA accounts that ship fur ? Which nation's trappers has the greater number of FHA shippers ? U.S. or Canada ?
