We were working in the garden heard a car fight saw the inside our side car run to it. Then one cat ran off. Son went to look and inside out side car was there sitting and another outside cat was on its side in distress. It couldn't get up and would growl if touched in places. Looked like it was slowly passing. Wife sadly called me over to put it down it was one of her favorites.

I have never seen a fatal cat fight before. Always just saw toms beat each other up maybe get an infection from a bite or damaged and tore up eye but never anything like that.

We have a big fluffy feral tom that hunts on our farm a lot. I noticed a week ago he is suddenly missing an eye. So yep, they get into some doozies.

Sounds like there could have been something underlying. Or coincidental. Poor kitty. Please extend my condolences to your wife. Cats live dangerously. And sometimes stuff happens. But man they live it up while they’re here on Earth!

I settle all disputes on the second offense cheaper than Vet bills.

A few years ago that one was injured in it's left eye leaving it with a white cloudy eye on that side. I have seen nearly tore off ears, terribly infected bites we always patched up. But never one leading to death. Funny the mostly spied house cout ran into the fight and broke it up no problem no injuries.

My youngest said he was going to get rid of the other Tom. I had to explain to him it's just nature and part of being a tom cat outside and leave him alone. He thought about it a while then agreed. The dead cat got a funeral fit for a viking king.

Intact male farm cats never seem to last long here. There's always tougher males that show up and fight them off. Some of them can be found dead from their wounds. Most just disappear. The female cats have a much more stable population.

a cat chester... he would leave in the spring and come home in fall... the kids were always excited when chester came home.one year he came home in july brought a kitten that looked just like him. a few days later he was dead in the basement i swear he knew he was dieing and brought us his offspring!! had a blue heeler pup slept with the cats to keep him warm in a old tire in the garage... come spring heat was no lomnger needed he killed all the cats...

The sounds of a serious cat fight in the middle of the night is enough to raise the dead!

When in HS on the dairy farm we had a Tom Cat named Peanuts, not real big but a strong cat that travelled and fought. He would be gone for some days and come back and lay next to our milk bowl with scars, ripped ears, swollen eyes etc. We had twice that I witnessed while there other Toms would come by and two of those died due to the fights. He basically disembowled two toms.

Crazy lady up the street is feeding 12-15 feral cats, Big problem for me when the hounds go off at 3am. Somebody must have complained or the county climbed up her keister, cause she cage trapped them, but she only took them to a vet for neutering, then released them again! Some people!!!
