Sometimes I don't dig at all and just kick a hole in the bank if its soft enough. I'll then either pin the bait in the back or shove a wad of grass in the hole over the bait so a coon has to work a little for it. I don't want to spend a lot of time digging!

Then I just wiggle it back and forth just like you were planting a tree. Drop in your bait and kick the slot closed. Place 2 traps one at each side of the slot.
