WOWSER would say he is aptly named.

Yep.
Bud, not trying to be cynical but your deer mounts are just " average".
Eyes, ears, nose need work on every mount you've posted pic of.

Am happy for you that you are doing it and found a nice hobby but...
Study deer pics.
A few things you could " tighten up".

I'm using 1000 photos on Google images, I've not found 2 identical whitetail. I've mounted a few thousand over the years. Never once have I found 2 mirror images of each other. When you have 25+ heads hanging in your shop you begin to realize their as unique as humans

Geographical elements play into it also. This year I mounted about 12 deer from the same 5000 acre area. Every single one had one pointed ear tip, one rounded, genetics?

I had a whitetail buck as a pet in a pen in my back yard for 6 years. He ate peanut m&m from my hands. Bugger ate hundreds of pounds of M&M,s . I've been up close to a whitetail buck. Like licking the salty sweat off my face close. Methol cigarettes? He'd tear the pocket off your shirt to get them. Regular cigarette? Wanted nothing to do with them. I've got hundreds of pics of him up close. His eyes, ears, mouth. No offense taken but I know these critters . I've mounted deer from all over the country. People would mail me their deer. They are unique as humans. No 2 exactly alike. Deer from Missouri have rounded ear tips. Deer from south Texas have pointed ear tips.
A taxidermist creates his own brand. I can take a deer from Texas and make him look like a deer from Canada. You airbrush to create your brand . The way you believe a deer should look. You can go to taxi competitions and spot a particular taxidermists work by his brand. I get alot of work because of the brand I've created. So there's always skepticism. Doesn't bother me one bit. It will never discourage a customer from bringing me their deer. I provide a service They Like and my turnaround is under 4 months. So have at it, I'm the only one that works in my shop. And my shop is full of work

I have a guy who does amazing work. No two of them look the same. He takes great effort in recording what they look like before he skins them. He makes sure to use the correct sized form for the deer. (He said that is where most taxidermists miss the mark.) The ones he did for me ended up looking just like I remembered them when I put the pin or the crosshairs on them.
As I have stated before, I don't care for the fleming pose because I can't help but laugh at how silly a lovesick buck looks in the flesh while doing that. I'll say this again too, Bud nailed it. His mouth is all jacked up, his eyes look queer as a Bud Light drinker, and he hunched over like an 8th grader who just found out that girls aren't icky.

Carl, I had reference pics of this buck on a does butt doing exactly what he's posed in. Few seconds later he was down. Vid of hunt and still pics. Reason hunter wanted fleming. You can even see buck running urine down his back legs while following doe. Crazy stuff.
I'm good, 26 years 8 months a taxi. Retired from it but I'm back at it again. Love this work
