Helped an old friend get his house cleaned up in preparation to sell it, he was a pilot up here in Alaska for about 50 years. He's moving to California so his daughter can help take care of him and his wife. In an old upright freezer in his garage were 3 guns, all rusty. I said I'd clean them so he could sell them. At the end of the day, he insisted I take this one. Said he shot one box of shells through it when he bought it, then never shot it again. It was his survival gun for his airplane. Still had white paint on it from shoving it under his plane seat. The butt stock was broken and glued back together where he dropped it once, and rusty on the outside here and there, but pristine on the inside, the screw heads have never seen a screw driver, the action is like butter. Won't feel bad using this one in bush Alaska, as the outside of it is roughed up already.

This is a solid old 1970 Marlin! I have it's mate in a model 39 22. I have a new checkered Birch stock for it if you need a replacement.

I have nothing clever to put here.

yup a centennial 30-30
mine has a interesting story in the opposite end of the country
it came to me also rusted and finish warn , not sure how much it was shot
it was carried as a gator gun in the side of the boat not sure if it was ever used. the guy who owned it Joe would live in Fl in the winter and WI in the summer he lived in a trailer at the farm , he died one day , he was late to work the boss nocked on the trailer door and when no response opened the door , Joe had died in his sleep and when his kin was contacted about his death and possessions they said just sell them and send the money.

there were a few other crazy stories that involved that gun

The older ones like that one are great rifles.

I have one that was built in 1953 that has been passing down through the family.

My dad bought it new and shot his first buck with it.

Dad passed it to me and I shot my first buck with it.

I passed it to my daughter and she shot her first buck with it.

We are hoping my granddaughter will shoot her first buck with it.

It's chambered for .35 Remington.

Eh...wot?

Lugnut my ex-FIL has an older Marlin in .35 Rem. It might not be a 400 yard gun and it might not be enough for grizzly country but wow does it excell in the deer woods. For deer drives it is my favorite among the dozens I have tried over the years.

The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.
