What supersonic factory load would you use for feral hogs in .300 Blackout. Shots at 100yds plus but few, if any, beyond 200yds. Most ferals less than 125lbs. Occasional biggun at 200lbs plus. Ruger American Ranch Gen2 with suppressor.
I saw on an older .300 BO thread that you favored Winchester Deer Season XPs 150gr for deer. Your opinion is valued. I'm not very knowledgeable on what is best....yet.
I have some Nosler 220gr HPBT subsonic...but they will be restricted to tight quarters of less than 50yds sitting in stands on feeders down in the swamp bottoms.

Deer season XP is the best I have found easily available and also reasonably priced farm and fleet carries it at 35 a box and what appears to be an identical but marketed as defensive ammo for 28.99 all the numbers are the same the bullets appear to be identical other than the nickle plating on the defensive silver tips I hope they are I bought up several boxes of the silver tip when XP was out of stock for a while at farm and fleet. also I will take a 6 dollar savings , 27.99 was the old XP price the boxes , the stats , the deer shot had about 30 inches of penetration's , I will look for the recovered bullet pic shot in neck running at me at 65-70 yards and found between the teets under the fur caught in the hide. absolutely shredded the aorta and wind pipe then minimal wood channel through diaphragm, liver and gut to rest in the hide. most dramatic bang flop I have ever had , normally they just look like you let the air out of them and they slow fall to the ground or tip over. this one did a flip and landed this way I had to take a picture.

here is the bullet pic 150gr 117gr recovered weight 78% retained weight you see the little spot of red on the neck , and that little bit on the leaves , that was it outside , inside blood everywhere torn up aorta and wind pipe. so it was great shot placement but that is the best bullet I have found so far. even though my sample size on deer is low with it at 1 currently.

I am just examining same topic for deer though. I am strongly considering Palmetto State Armory AAC 110 grain sabre black blade. Look effective and cheap. Good ballistic tests on gel as well with about 16" penetration from both 10" and 16" barrels AAC has published some statements about some of their ammo not being suppressor safe , check if that particular load has any warning. jacket separation in the barrel taking out suppressor baffles

Found the Win Deer Season XP 150s for $17.99/20. But shipping and tax for 3 boxes = another $20.....$74+/60 rounds Averages $24+/20 or $1.23/round. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore....know anything about them?

this is the other bullet I had some success with ,the shot placement wasn't great on this a decent vein and it did get the liver and the deer was recovered in the morning , it was cold enough to not be an issue but it was a last light shot then track 150-200 yards, jump it again and realize I was going to lose it if I pushed it too hard. blood trail was ok because I shot it half way up a hill and it was draining a dribble of blood out the low hole, no exit as you can probably guess from the recovered bullet. it actually died about 80 yards past last jump probably by the time I had entered the way point of last jump but I didn't know that till morning as it was getting too dark to see. below freezing no spoiled meat so non issue. 110gr Hornady soft point loaded over CFE-BLK about 2050 muzzle velocity. not really moving substantially faster this was about a 95-110 yard shot 104gr retained so 94% retention I had a hard time getting any more of these for a few years my quest is for no tracking or if there is tracking 2 holes and a good blood trail. I would rather never recover a bullet again and recover every deer feet from where I shot it.

I would show you a 110gr Vmax but I never found anything but pieces and that was only on the neck shot deer. no exit even in the neck.

Based on your results with the 150s...I think they'll do OK on these hogs down here.

Deer season XP gave 30 inches of penetration on a deer rapid expansion a couple inches in with good wound channel for 8-10 inches then basically a bullet traveling base first the rest of the 30 or so inches , I have never shot a hog that wasn't at the farm at feet not yards and never with 300blk
I expect the XP it is your best shot at a traditional bullet
Barnes and there are 2-3 different options by them in different weights might be better I just haven't tried them
if you have a pig your not going to eat , shoot it to kill then test other bullets on a very recently dead medium will tell you more than I can about a hog
when I first started my 300blk quest I was looking for a cheap bullet I could load in bulk , I have sort of realized I mostly use it for one area for deer and 308 any where else that doesn't have rifle restrictions
my 300blk is a 16 inch barrel pistol narrowly fitting in to local ordinance

I appreciate all the info GCP! I'm gonna shoot the new Ruger .300BO tommorrow and zero the thermal in with the Nosler 220gr until I get some lighter rounds. I don't have the suppressor yet...it'll be about a month, or more b4 that happens. I have a very target rich environment. Myself and two of my friends have killed 21 hogs in past 2.5 weeks and this was a couple hrs ago on the same property.

GCP, Bought a box of the Win Deer Season 150s at Academy Sports today. Gonna set up a profile in the thermal scope for that round at 100yds.

Those XP’s must be different for the 300ACC because they aren’t worth a flip for deer in a 7mm/08 or .308. If deer take off running with behind the shoulder shots then I’d imagine pigs might as well. And no exits on either once the deer were found…some days later. What distance are you shooting with the XP’s in the 300? I’m considering a new upper for my AR15 and converting it to 300ACC. I wasn't impressed with the Deer Season XPs in 7mm-08 either. Grouping in my Remington Model 7 was too loose. Never shot a deer with them. My Model 7 likes the Winchester Silvertips 140 gr. 7mm-08. I don't handload, so I'm at the mercy of factory loads. Plan on zeroing the .300 150s at 100yds. I'll add a profile for this round in my thermal scope until I discover better performance from another round. Looking closely at the Barnes Vortex 110gr Tac Tx. Lots of good reviews on hog and deer with this bullet. Probably won't have many hog shots over 100yds, but there may be a few.

Good ballistic tests on gel as well with about 16" penetration from both 10" and 16" barrels I just ordered 60 rounds of these. Hard to pass up at $13/20. They have good reviews. Says it is a Hornady V-max bullet. Pretty good ballistics...
