I am still driving my truck
however I upgraded my garden/loaner/wood hauler truck/spare/backup

I had the 1988 S-10 my son found after he rolled my 2004 F150
he bought himself a truck in 2022 and I took over the little 88

a friends dad can't drive any more he is in his 80s and the tremors are too much in his hands.
his eyes are not good either. so they asked if I wanted his old truck.

I told my wife these don't come along often , he has owned it since 2000 kept up on fluids and what it needed

1998 Chevy 1500 WT with the 8 foot bed , standard cab.

it has my criteria of manual locks , crank windows and rubber floors

this one is an automatic so the other half of my family can use it as a loaner when their ride is on jack stands in my drive way.

it has some rust but runs good and the price was good.
had no problem selling my S-10 in 1 phone call.

You found a gem there for sure. If it was 4WD, that'd be my daily truck in a heartbeat.

wife has 4wd expedition , I had one 4wd from July1999 until Feb 2022 my last standard cab truck.
then with kids had a 2wd E350 van till Jun 2019
been a 2wd F150 and 2wd GMC 1500 since

I started on an 86 F150 and a bunch of other 2wd that the farm I worked on then had.

the secret to living with 2wd is park where you know you can get out and walk further.

I have also been some places a 2wd probably shouldn't go and got back out

in the snow 2wd on roads does me fine , can't drive faster than the brakes will stop you so getting going is more a function of weight and easy on the throttle.

if I get stuck at the farm it is never more than a mile walk to get the tractor
