First time I’ve had to deal with possums in a building. Using connibears in boxes, best bait you fellows use?

Anything you would use for raccoon. Can't set a trap for coon without catching the obligatory opossum or two.

You need to get a copy of Big Opossum Joe's book. Trapping Opossum by the millions.. it's the Bible of opossum trapping.
Clearly points out the opossum are attracted to fresh black top. So it is the Best bait you can use. LMAO!

Or you can use anything others above have mentioned.

Make sure that it is loud so that he'll lumber in from a longer distance to find it.

I've had a possum crawling under my house this past week. Two nights ago I set a cage trap right next to the crawlspace entrance, I put an egg in the trap for bait. Nothing the next morning. Yesterday I fried up some halibut, I poured some of the fryer oil into the back of the trap. I caught the critter by 10PM.
That's only the second possum I've caught in 55 years of trapping, so I'm no possum expert.

being in a building , setting off a skunk first probably not an option but does it bring them in

stinky as you can get in a building

caught most of them setting for coon with dogfood and fish oil
that fish oil has a little dab of essence in it maybe but no so much it would be offensive

you get a wif of it when you walk past the lure section in the store.
