Nice one

My first catch this year was either a coyote or a coon, not sure which got caught first but got them on the same day.

Hope you catch a bunch.

Looks like a nice coon I always found that almost any catch in a fox set made it more attractive to other critters in the area Good Luck

Put the in the freezer for about 45 min. to firm up

i prefer to peel them when warm,or at least subtle then put the pelt in the fridge or freezer to firm up for fleshing.

Yes firm up for fleshing is better, comes off like orange peel

Remember that “dreamy” tail? What a great job Moyle does. Came back clean and soft! And I can see the difference now that you guys were talking about “blue coon” compared with my other pelts. He ain’t yeller!!

Nice coon and yes Moyles does a great job imo
Are you keeping it for a wall hanger or do you have other plans for it?

Just a wall hanger! I would bunch it in with my others, I have five in a corner strung up with a zip tie. (I love the look of a BUNCH of fur). But I think this one deserves to be set apart. For now I’m having a hard time putting it down. Luxuriously soft!

In all seriousness , I gripe about catching raccoon in my fox sets but they really are unique and beautiful animals. I have a love/hate relationship with the little bandits! They sure are tough

That a pretty coon for sure. On my line I have noticed that the coon have small pool of genetics. I had one farm where I would catch one or two black raccoons every fall. On another farm they would be some almost red.
So if you set regularly in that location. Is a good chance you may catch more in that color pattern.

Thanks Mac! One year I caught one with a sorta piebald face. I’d love a cinnamon one!
