The males have been moving up for a couple weeks. The females are now coming in good.

I was on the little niangua last weekend. 64 degree h20 temp. Caught lots of little males on the bank. Females were 12 15 ft off still. I will be on there again this weekend but these cold temps might change things up a bit.. Fished the spoonbill tournament last weekend also. 65 mile marker. caught two in the 40 lbs range but didn't want to make the run to weigh them.

Low in the 30s and high in the 50s on Friday and saturday. Throw in 20 mph wind and it could get fun.

Ol dad

Ol dad, we were within about 5 miles of each other. The water temp says they should be getting it on. Going tomorrow so will give report.

Is this a pretty normal time for good crappie fishing down there? Planning to do a family trip down that way one of these coming winters and was wondering if late March/early April is usually decent around then? Actually got my new used boat out for its maiden run last weekend! Last week we still had ice now! Happy trapping! ScottW

Scott, usually second weekend in April there will be pockets of spawning fish to full blown spawn. All I use is artificial bait. I shoot docks and skip behind the docks mostly this time of year. Fish can also be caught on open banks with both chunk rock and pea gravel.

Me and a buddy caught 30 on Wednesday and never went further than 100 yards of the boat ramp. 30 mins and we were done.

Nice fish CK

I need to drag my butt over there this spring and catch a few crappie.
Wife's grandfather is starting to get into them where he's at on LOZ
