All the components came together for Lure Hunting and I had a mega find in one outing.

That's a nice haul of lures. Was the water down really far?

Heck of a haul, especially in the spring with rising water. I always think of fall/winter to be the best time to look, as they draw the lakes down. It would take me 10 trips to find all those.

Several components came together which I explain in my book but essentially fishing pressure, wind, current, rising/ falling water and micro locations where everything gathers.

Dang Green Bay you got it dialed in. Truth be told my diving started out 50 some years ago picking lure.Dang I loved doing that. Still have a few spoons and spinners I picked way back in 1970. What I found back then was mostly spoons and spinners the hair type jig baits. Was kind of right at the start of the twister tail thing. Hot bait then was Beetle Spin. My favorite prize finds were the true Mepps spinners and original Daredevil. We found a lot of the cheaper spinners and spoons though.
Now that I don't move so good and not really diving anymore. I really enjoy seeing your post of your finds. My brother just Saturday past me a year old News paper story about a guy up your way. Ed the Diver. Guess making a living now just picking lure.

There was a short period of my life when my first wife and I separated so I could "think about things." Found a cabin in a fish camp along the Wisconsin River and thought a lot about things. Marriage lasted another three years and that's another story.

Anyway . . . there was a bar at this camp that became a regular watering hole with cheap steak dinners. And I could chat with the clientele that came up to fish and rent a cabin. There were several groups that came up from Chicago, and their MO for fishing for walleyes was to troll with diving Rapalas. I happened to be at the shoreline one morning when they were loading their boat and I witnessed a rather large tackle box full of these divers. I asked why so many? Their answer: they snag as they troll, and rather than go back and try to get them out of the snags they break off and tie on a new one. I asked . . . how many you go through in a day? Maybe a dozen or so . . each.

So I geared up, followed 'em with the binoculars, and charted where I could see them hesitate in their upstream putt, breaking off and tying on. Come the middle of the week I went back out with mask, fins and snorkel and collected enough to make it worthwhile.

Friday nights found me back in the bar hawking diving Rapalas . . . . ;O)

Thanks everyone. I appreciate hearing stories of how others are doing this. I have been working on my system for several years and there is no one secret to finding them - the system I use depends on what conditions are like on the water. They key is understanding the water and letting it dictate which method to use. Once I start finding them I search everywhere that has the same conditions.
