I had hanging outside under my porch.
Felt something move when I put it on.
Freaked me OUT!.
First thought was to smash it but I didn't. Once I regained my composer, I petted him and put him in the sun to warm up.

He hung there quite awhile and started slowly going up. Hid behing a deer antler till dark.
Was gone in the morning.

Night roost.

They don't fly around all night long. Fly out at dusk fill their belly, go roost for a bit to digest their meal then another meal before dawn before heading back to the day roost.

Nearly all of em are rabies vectors.

If ya start foaming at the mouth and acting crazing...and you haven't been drinking liquor......call 911....lol

It'll probably be too late to save ya, but at least the bat will be OK.

cute little guy. thanks for not killing it. had 2 in a cage years back, and the kids enjoyed feeding them butterflies. we "rescued" them from a county courthouse, where they wouldve surely been killed. kept them a short time, then released where we knew others frequented.

Had something smack my wing vent hard then hit the side of my headon my way to work several years ago. Had a few scratches figured it was a large bug went into work and forgot about it. In the morning I opened the door getting back in the truck at the gas station and there was a dead bat between the door and seat.

I have had one get in the house 3 times in the last 7 years. I just get a shirt, towel or whatever is handy and toss it up as the bar is flying by. It gets hung up in it then I release it outside. Neat little things.

All the pictures I posted were little browns. That is the majority of what I see, did have some big browns last year but no pictures, they left thru a cone.

Of the twenty-four human rabies cases from bats from 1993 to 2000, seventeen cases (71%) were a rabies variant associated with the silver-haired bat (Lasionycteris noctivagans) while one case (4%) was associated with the rabies variant found in big brown bat.

The bat was (as far as I know) was a LBB.
common here in the summer.
I wish them no harm.
