Do any of the fun shooting matches ? We sure do. We have post cutting matches (usually teams of 2 shooting a 4x4 in half), split the ball on a hatchet, clay birds through holes in logs and all kinds of metal silhouettes. We also shoot clay birds thrown from an electric trap thrower. A real simple fun shoot is a 6 inch gong type target. Start at 25 yards, hit it and you stay in, miss and you are out. Every round the range increases by 5 yards. We can go about 135 yards at the range, and have used all of that a couple times.

Good deal k snow, congrads to both you and the wife and all the teams' members. I was helping with the awards by calling out places. To see the look on the gals' faces when i called them for third place was worth the entire day. It was shock at first, then all smiles. They are all good shots, but they didn't think they would place at all with some of the other shooters that showed up.

Pretzels on a string. And my favorite is the candle shoot at night - snuff out the candle without hitting it. We also have this target that is a 4 inch pipe about three ft. long with a bend in the middle that angles up. A water balloon is set on the top end. The idea is to shoot into the lower end and your ball travels up the pipe and breaks the balloon. A lot of fun.

Cool. I've never heard of that group. Here is the website. The group is dedicated to traditional sidelock muzzleloaders. There are sanctioned shoots and public demos throughout the year. Like most groups, they are struggling with active membership and club involvement. Add in the new definition of 'muzzleloader' in WI and who knows what will happen. WMLA

WTG it's great to see young ppl out shooting (instead of playing a video game about shooting)

The Vermont Trappers Association has a black powder shoot at their convention. I went one year and had a great time. That sounds like a great way to bring like minded people together.
