Can anyone shed any light on the current NYS castor market ?
What is the recently payed price per pound for properly dried & handled castor at in-country auctions ?
Thank you in advance for any helpful current information.

Just returned home from today's Herkimer Auction & can announce that the current prices that the buyers were willing to pay for a pound of castor today is between $23.00 to $26.50 a pound for dried castor.
Wet, or frozen castor was offered at $18.00 a pound.
I watched nine (9) lots offered for sale while I was there of which 5 were no-saled.
Lots were #4lbs, #4.5lbs, #4.5lbs, #7.25lbs, #8.25lbs, #8.25lbs, #15.25lbs, #15.5lbs & #18lbs.
I left around 11:00AM and there were plenty of lots of castor left to be auctioned.
There were only 3 buyers bidding on the castor out of around 10 buyers present.

So even with the small shrinkage and commission, $60 for grade 1, $50 for grade 2, $30 for grade 3 , doesn’t look so bad at FHA auction ? Did all their grade 2 and 3 sell? Those are great prices for those

From what I can figure out on FHA castor this go-around was any #2 that sold was private treatied earlier and all the fresh #2 was no saled. My shrinkage was 18% and all my #3 and #1 sold.
However, on three association sales (ITA Glenns Ferry, OTC Prineville, OTC Klamath Falls), I had zero shrinkage, 6% commission, and before commission taken out averaged a shade over $40/lb.
.....And importantly for me, have that money in hand.
