Photo inscription: Moose In The Yukon Aug. 11, 1907, Wolfe Photo Dawson Y.T.

"This intriguing snapshot features a daring prospector seemingly perched atop a majestic moose, evidently tamed for transport and heavy lifting."

I'd say thats an early version of all wheel drive transportation.

Another great, cool photo. Thanks 330!

There's a farm near Kostroma where they've been raising moose for a few decades. Not exactly domesticated yet, but they have some interesting info on their website.

Aug. 11 - moose should still have velvet. And how do you handle a bull moose that has not been castrated? That one looks like it has normal antler growth so not castrated? I believe castrated reindeer have abnormal antler growth. Have seen pic's of that.

Not sure about accuracy of this photo.

Looks AI generated and not just photoshopped. The dynamic range is way too good for a turn of the century photo, and the light areas/shadows in the foreground and background are unnaturally different. No grain, motion blur, damage or any scan artefacts either. This level of detail and lighting is rarely seen even in good studio photographs of the period with extra lighting and very stationary models. I worked in a digital archive project for a number of years, restoring/retouching scanned photos in Photoshop (removing tears, dust, stains, exposure issues, etc...) and this picture looks fake to me smile the caption is definitely photoshopped in.

P.S. also, this authentic old picture has a suspiciously similar caption wink

A semi tame Moose herd would be handy for antler collecting!

I wish we could ride a bull, rather than taking an Argo while moose hunting. Guaranteed I’d fill my tag.
