Starting to put dad together a AR. Really wants either a 6mm ARC .22 ARC or a .300 hamm'r.

Anyway company I've been hoping finally dropped the barrels and there about the same as eveyone else price wise so honestly might go with someone else at this point. But what I though as weird was somehow the complete uppers with BCG's are only like $100 more crazy and I've noticed this with a few companies. But if you buy the parts the prices is..... I don't think I'll ever understand these fire arms companies math confused like a most BCG's are 89-150 average uppers receivers are like 50-120 and the handguards are a smooth $100 out the gate. honestly it's been getting to the point I've just considered buying some of these uppers just to break them down for the receiver and hand guards for other projects and sell the barrels . Lotta the time would actually be cheaper then goin piece for piece. Weird

Also question for you airborne guys. Dad was airborne pretty proud of it. He likes the paint jobs I do on my guns , says it all the time ( have seen him bragging a bout them before blush ) but the idea of doin one himself kinda freaks him out for some reason, anyhow thought it would be cool to give this gun I'm building him one that's like a airborne deal but not sure how to go about it. Any ideas ? Color schemes and the like ? Mabye just some jump wings or something?

you need to think like a business man

I’ve said that for years.

You can often buy complete, or mostly complete rifles as cheap (or cheaper) than parts.

Now, 20-30 years ago those complete rifles may not have been as good as part sourced ones, but that’s all changed.

I bought a super cheap 16” last fall for under $500, complete rifle! Including the FFL transfer!

It’ll shoot MOA to just over with the cheapest of the cheap Winchester m193 all day.

The screaming eagle is 101st and they are no longer airborne, air assault instead. 82nd Airborne is the all-american division. Had an uncle in each and both went into Normandy on D-day.

Dang Boone and here I always took you for a custom/ semi custom bolt gun type of guy grin
But yeah seems the cost of getting something that shoots good and good glass is just plain cheaper then it used to be. I mean heck the stuff you can get for $500 now days would have been $1000 and top of the line 10years back.

Would be nice if I could get just the actions and bolts for stuff like the Ruger Americans. With so many people buying them just to toss them in chassis with profit barrels at home instead of going to a Smith you'd figure they would just start selling them like howa does with their mini 1500's but hay what do I know lol

As to the price thing, they're still making money with the complete kits. Less packaging for them and probably move faster than the individual pieces. Inventory that doesnt move, doesnt make money. Cash Flow is king.

That was good.

They flat abused that rifle, repeated full auto mag dumps, and it lasted a long time!

Young man gone long periods for work with young women at home ready to get married. Something tells me your more occupied when you're home than your letting on. This is coming from a guy older than you with the same woman at home since I was 16 and being away from home for periods of time.

Every product is that way. If you was to buy everything to build an entire basic car/truck you’d have over $100K in it, plus time and labor.

Like I’ve said before, you’re a closet millionaire. I could have 3 DD or Wilson Combat AR’s in different calibers with what you spend tinkering, lol.

You could go the sticker route a set of jump wings on one side of the lower receiver and the all American patch on the other. I have lower receiver that I battery etched jump wings and All American patch too. But I don't know how that would work as the one I done wasn't anodized yet.

More like 1/2 of one for the price of the least three AR's I've built. Being that most DD's are starting out a 2k. And sorry I'm not like a lot of guys with a navy seal fantasy thinking I need to have some ultra high faluten' mil spec whatever to shoot cans and the occasional Varmint . Idk gotta feeling I got something nice like a tuned SGT of arms AR folk would talk about how they're $600 PSA is just as good so think imma just doin my lil thing laugh
