Why wouldn’t you show a pic of your actual gun?

You may want to think before you do this. Posting guns that some (government, thieves, etc) may not know you have makes ownership of said guns public knowledge. Eric

I never inherited a gun from anyone. My Dad sold his guns when he gets back from the Army. Said after what he saw and did, guns or killing weren't something he was interested in anymore

ok see picture (blank space) below of all of my inherited guns

well that is all of them

in all seriousness my grandfathers were both great guys I learned a lot from both of them I had the pleasure of hunting with one for about 10 years after he retired , he farmed and rand a construction buissness from the farm so it wasn't till he quit farming and construction that he got back to hunting. otherwise it was hurry up and get work done season.
he had one gun a Ithaca 12ga if it needed killing that was the tool and my uncle inherited it.

my other grandpa was a city kid from great Depression Chicago who joined the USN in WWII and met grandma the daughter of a commercial fisherman at a USO dance.
I don't think he purchased a gun in his life other than maybe for my dad when he started hunting but I think Grandma took care of that both are passed now but I recall my dad saying his mom took him to the store to buy his first shotgun. my dad is alive I should ask him next time I talk to him if it was grandma.
Her brother was the hunter and commercial fisherman who taught both dad and I to deer hunt.
Grandpa went with a few years when dad was a teen and borrowed a gun but he didn't take to it.
Dad likes it but other than bird hunting with friends when he was a kid and opening weekend of family deer camp he doesn't hunt much , when I was 12 dad took me squirrel hunting and we tried pheasant a few times unsuccessfully we archer deer hunted a little.
I had the pleasure of hunting with Uncle Bill for 27 years before he passed.
he has several guns , he also had 3 kids and grand kids so that is where those guns went.

I did buy an identical gun to the one he carried all of those years
the year might be off by a couple but same range and clearly the SN # is different.
it is referred to as Uncle bills gun at my house but it was not his.
but it is as close as I will get to the nostalgia of an inherited gun.

enjoy what you have and pass them on to your kids.

also Mr Eric space I'm not worried most people here are very nice and if other people were worried I don't think they would post pictures of their guns on similar threads such as new gun Friday and such

I have a few cheap junk guns I bought from family after a death. Mostly so my wife's grandma had more money since she would only accept so much from me to help her out. I got my great grandfathers Springfield 12pump. Found it at my great uncles AFTER the auctions. He was Swiss and knew how to keep them hidden in plain sight. It's nothing I would hunt with but I got it.

I will get dad's but it's all Fair basic newer manufacturer stuff on the inexpensive side. Dad is not a hunter at all has very little to shoot and self defense or occasionally coon or possum.

My kids will get a few guns from me but nothing of high value. Mostly hard used inexpensive tools.

they don't have to be fancy or expensive to have the real meaning , it is a connection to the time you spent together , so your kids will probably love having the tools that they used when they were kids to take all those deer.
a tangible thing tided to a memory.

Uncle Bob (not my blood uncle but my Great uncle Bill's best friend of about 60 some years) who has hunted with us my entire life has borrowed a gun for a bunch of years since his deadbeat of a son stole his and sold it. anyway after Bill died in 2019 4 days before gun opener Bob has been able to borrow Bills old gun that didn't work out this last season I think my cousins kid was using it at a different camp. Because he did have a single shot they lent him.
when I pulled out the case and gun that looked identical to uncle Bills and asked if he would rather use that , I could tell it made his day , I think uncle Bob was 87 last year , he took his first shot in 11 years since he shot his last deer.

Here is not the issue. In case you are not cognizant of the fact, anyone on earth who clicks this link can see whole threads, photos, everything. Anyone. Some thief or drug runner that lives near you, or anyone else. Or anyone connected to powers that be in office or under their control as weapons , any of these that are compromised and hunt for things like this.

Thanks Sharon you said what I was thinking more eloquently than I did.
True disclosure: a few years ago I posted a picture of a rifle I have on here. I regret that.

Eric, this is a kid posting this stuff. Who cannot even spell Dow Jones. I recognized his writing style.

No worries. We all love our firearms . I have posted my Weatherby too, on taking my game . The most beautiful rifle in the world, I call it, a lightning bolt in hand.

We are rightly proud of our firearms. If this forum was on a private platform , that only members logged in could see, I would feel better .

I have my pap’s JC Higgins bolt action 16 ga. For some reason he painted the stock black. It’s ruined. I keep it just because it was his. But he did a lot of weird stuff. He was into decals for a while. He would take an antique two handles saw and slap decals on it, like it was now “art”. Hunky Junk.
