For coon trigger on bottom, in center, & wires twisted together

Trigger on bottom is so it won't dig into neck or back creating any damage

Till that day.....

Tune up those triggers also, so they have minimal swing before they fire.

The only BG we can use on land outside of a cubby or bucket is a 5”x5”. I use the expanda pan by Chip Davis on them and set them about 3” off the ground in trails. Works good on even big boar coons. They trip the pan with their neck.

May God bless you and yours

“Big” and “average sized” coons differ around the country. A “big coon” in Ohio would be 17 or so pounds. A big coon in southern Minnesota is 25+. I have no idea if a 5x5 would be a good choice around here, but a 160 sized body grip is an excellent trap for coon where I live.

I put my body grips on a stand, about 5-6 inches off the ground. All my triggers look like goal posts and they’re on the top rather than on the bottom. Body grips seem to do better (for me) if they’re up off the ground. They seem to hit the trigger with their shoulders.

Never too old to learn

I use 160 body grippers. I put the trigger in the center on the top and make a V with the bottom of the triggers about 2-3 inches apart. All of my body gripper sets for coons are blind sets in trails with no attractants, baits etc. 95 out of 100 are head catches right behind the ears. Only a very few with one leg in the trap.
As for foot holds. I use the same tension as I do for rats, mink etc.

160 conibear in a square bucket, trigger on bottom and on the backside so more of it's head gets in. 4" in from the front edge per regulations here. Some cheap dry cat food all the way in the back of the bucket.
