I have 20 or so beaver and castor to sell that I trapped after the MTA fur sale. I’d rather not keep it over the summer. I have sold to Darrold Rollman in Butte but his number appears disconnected. Does anyone have any differing information or other suggestions? Kortum is always an option, just wondering if there’s other ideas out there. Thank you

Joe Jasic lives in Winnett and buys for Kortum. I talked to him the other day and he is paying 18 dollars a pound for put up dried beaver.
Petska fur is paying 16 dollars a pound but I don't know if they get any closer than Sheridan WY. They do have a buyer based in the Broadus area.
Hope this helps but I might be talking about the wrong side of the state since I don't know where you are located.

I can't believe that cop put me in the back seat when I clearly called shotgun.

Used to be a buyer in Fort Bridger. One of the Judson brothers. There is also a buyer in western Montana, near Missoula I think.

Idahotrapguy will know who it is. He buys at the Idaho sales.

Kortum had the high bid on about 90% of the 300 beaver I sold at association sales this season. I noticed he was weighing beaver at the K. Falls OTC sale. My overall average was right around $36 before commissions.

Thank you for all the info - sounds like I’ll head over and see Kortum, I’m in Helena. Folks may dislike the per lb buying but for me it makes it pretty simple.

On a side note, Gibb's video on Steton hats said it takes 2 lbs. of felt to produce a felt hat at $125/lb. for the felt. How many XL beaver does it take to get 1 lb. of felt?

Unless there's an industry source of info I guess somebody will have to shave off an XL beaver and pluck out the guard hair and get a gram sensitive scale to weigh it. Dry XL weighs just under 2.0 lbs in my area.
