Watched the eclipse spectacle from North Jefferson Park beach off Littlefield Place rd.
behind (west) of Black Pond Wildlife Management Area on Lake Ontario.

I drove my Silverado right down on the sandy beach for a front row seat.

There was thick total overhead cloud cover until
the sun was already partially covered by the moon.

Then, like magic, the clouds parted right over Lake Ontario and everything
was visible until totality happened right above us for about 3 minutes
until about 3:24pm when it got mostly very dark over the lake.

The gulls flying over the lake were going absolutely crazy reacting to the darkness.

It was an epic natural phenomenon & walleyed was glad to be privileged to witness it.

Doubt we'll be still drawing a breathe when the next one comes around in 2044.

walleyed rated the experience two thumbs up & well worth the arduous 10 minute
drive from our compound in Henderson, N.Y. laugh

Scrubbing 200 plus 5-6 gal;lons buckets used for sap. Stopped every 20 minutes to take a peek. We got some safe glasses. It was interesting to see about 95% closed and still really light. Good to see, but glad I did not drive 6 hours to see the other 3-4%.

Made the 30 minute drive to my Brother in laws farm to watch the 30 seconds of totality. Was pretty cool, heifers were still mooing and birds still flying in the dark. Well worth the time spent.

It seemed like the whole city of Ann Arbor came through our area today. The main highway was backed up 50 miles so all the subarus and Priuses were back roading it.

To view the eclipse, we just walked out the door and sat in the backyard. We had a view of the full eclipse for a few minutes. There was a solar flare or something on the lower left, that we couldn't see with the glasses, but could with the naked eye.

The alternate lake didn't work out apparently the state thought it was a good idea to gate the road off and close the shooting range down there because of the eclipse the lake entrance is just past the shooting range on the Dead end road. So we ended up going to the original lake I plan to go to and managed to get back there and on the water. We fished a good while my wife and youngest boy left after about an hour hour and a half and my 13-year-old and I stayed out till about 5:30. I didn't notice fish biting more or less while during the eclipse we caught maybe 20 25 small bass and one bluegill. I looked over and he was fishing standing up in a kayak. Reminded me of myself when I was younger and before the balance issues popped up.

It got dark it was neat but about the same as the last 3 I have seen except for more coverage being it was about 99.5% covered. I was busy casting so only put the glasses on and looked up now and then. Traffic on the way was crazy heading north, and heading south when we were on our way home. More traffic than those hwy's seem in 2 months.

I'm driving to Southern Illinois to watch the 17 year cicada emergence in a month or so. Never seen that before. I moved around a lot and always missed out.

Last year we had more of them than I have seen in my life. Daily in the morning we walked around the house and picked up 3 gal or so of them or more fairly quickly then headed over to the chickens. Cicada taste great when converted into eggs. I think my wife said wee will be getting another hatch again this year. Last year she said two brood hatched on the same year and that's why there were so many. But they all looked the same to me

I saw this the other day but didn’t reply. The difference between 95%, or even 99% totality, is amazing. Everyone here let out a collective WOW when totality hit. There was no comparison to even 99% totality and 100% totality. Some body said “Holy (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman)” and my little grand daughter said “Holy sh word”, so she wouldn’t be swearing.
A NASA astronaut, Terry Virts, described it—— “On a scale of one to ten, a partial eclipse is a seven," said Virts, who experienced his first total eclipse from Earth in 2017. "And a total eclipse is a million."

I have seen two partial eclipse and there’s no way to describe the difference between a total and a partial eclipse.
It would have been worth the drive of six hours to see the other 3-4%.
